Taming The Table- Instructions for the Game

Note for parents: Children have been constructing the tables in the class. They need not rote learn the table. Please
encourage your children to think and ask them to share how they are thinking to find the right card. They can use their
notepads/ notebooks to figure out too.
Level 1
The game can be played between 3 to 5 players
Material required: Taming the table kit
● Foam tokens in the kit have to be distributed amongst all the players equally. In case of extra
tokens, keep them aside.
● There are two dice in the kit: 6
One has only numbers written on it
9 the other one is the ‘times’ dice times
● There are different sets of coloured cards for different ‘Times Tables’
The player who finishes off the tokens first is the winner of the game

We will be using only ‘times’ dice for playing Level 1 6 & set of single-coloured cards

How to play?
1. Spread the set of a purple-coloured cards in front of all the players so that the numbers on them are clearly
visible. You will notice the numbers are related to Times Table of 6. The box space on the card is made for
keeping the foam token on the card
2. Pick up the ‘times’ dice and roll it. For example, the number that comes on the dice is ‘7 times,’ you can figure
out what is 7X6. Then speaking aloud 7X6 is 42 you can place one of your tokens on the card number 42. It’s
good for the player to share how they have been thinking to find out 7X6 is 42
3. Then, the next player gets the chance to roll the dice. If the second player also gets ‘7 times’ on the dice,
he/she will put a token on the other card with number 42
4. Every player will roll the ‘times’ dice turn wise and move
5. Now if some player again gets 7 times 6 & both the cards with number 42 are blocked with tokens already
kept on those, then that player will have to pick up the token from one of the number cards of 42 and keep it
with his/her tokens. Remember, no card can have two counters at the same time.
6. The player who finishes off the tokens first, is the winner

Similarly, you may play the Taming the table of 7 For playing Taming the Table of 7, we
will be using only ‘times’ dice & set of grey-coloured cards (9 cards)
