4th Quarter Lesson Plan

I. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate an understanding the key concept and approaches in the social
sciences.

II. Performance Standard


The learners shall be able to interpret personal and social experiences using relevant
approaches in the social sciences and evaluate the strength and weaknesses of the approach.

III. Learning Competencies


The learners will be able to predict the social consequences of decision making based on
scarcity.

IV. Specific Objectives


At the end of this lesson, the learners shall:
a. Define rational choice theory and its assumptions;
b. Describes consumer behavior based on the assumptions of Rational Choice; and
c. Show appreciation on situations through the perspective of Rational Choice.

Activity 1. KWL Chart

Activity 2. Situationer. A student is inside a grocery store with a cash of P2000,


what are they going to buy? List down all the items you want to spend with the money inside
the grocery store.

ANALYSIS
The teacher asks the student
1. Why they chose to buy these products?
2. How do they choose these products?

ABSTRACTION
The teacher asks,
1. What is a rational choice?
2. Why is it a theory?
3. Which behavior of a consumer relates to RC assumptions?

The teachers present the concept of Rational Choice and its assumption in the
PowerPoint presentation.

APPLICATION
Role Playing: (3-5 mins)
Students will be grouped by three. These groups will make a role play about how they
can make rational choices in life by applying the concepts learned in Rational Choice Theory.

The role play will be graded according to

2. Discuss one RC assumption by providing an example.
