schools by choice ,while the government school or the public students’ parents have

their children educated in public school because it is what our society does. Both

schools wanted the students to be educated. Moore and Miller (1991) found that

students from private and government schools students have been conducted in
1
developed and developing countries on the influence of school type on students and

have been showed up more positive attitudes towards the performance of the students.

Student attitudes toward the discipline. Moreover, Attitudes toward the student’s

performances is also influenced by many factors such as gender, parents, peers,

teacher and the teaching methods. However the focus of this study is to investigate the

influence of school type on attitudes toward students performances. Khan

Rodrigues(2001).

in a public or in a private. .

Scope and Limitation

5
The scope of this study is to determine and analyze the attitudes of the SHS student of

public and private toward the performance and their perception. Also the researcher will

conduct the survey and interview at Pantabangan National High School were is public

school together at the Saint Andrew School which is private school, those two schools

are found at Pantabangan Nueva Ecija and only focus on SHS students. The

researcher will start the survey at the month of July with 100% of respondents 50% from

PNHS and 50% from SAS Inc. This study is only limited with the perception of the SHS

students of public and private school

REVIEW OF RELTED LITERATURE

ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Attitude is determined by the individual beliefs about outcomes or attributes of

performing the behavior (behavioral beliefs) weighted by evaluation of those outcomes

or attribute. Thus, a person who holds strong beliefs that possibility valued outcomes

will result from performing the behavior will have a positive behavior and also will have a

negative behavior. Khan khalia et, Al.(2012) Found a slight difference in students

attitude towards mathematics between public and private school students private is

ahead in terms of mathematics and environmental science than the public students.

But, according to Kpolvie P. J.et., Al. (2014) Students learning attitude affects their

achievement when attitude are positive that tends to have a better learning outcomes

whether it is private or public school because it is vital to identify what type of

perceptions of students toward the academic performance.

PERCEPTION OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL TOWARDS ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE

Attitudes are likely academic achievement because they are significant factors in

ensuring students success. Some subject can affect their attitudes and especially to

their academic performance. Prokop P. Tuncer et,. Al. (2007)

PRIVATE AND PUBLIC STUDENT

Therefore there is always a debate whether between public and private school. But

each of the two has its own advantages and disadvantages that make them look better
8
in a certain perspective toward each other. Undoubtedly with the quality of education

private and public are not debated because both schools is better, but other perception

by the academic performance toward the subjects and learning is to letting the students

to seek question, asking question and to help them regarding the subject. Students can

more participate in extracurricular activities each school.

Being in a public and private is not really matter if the students is determined enough to

study, Going to a private school doesn’t mean that it is guaranteed to top academic

results, In fact if the students is willing to learn he or she will be alright . In other hands

with the pros and cons of public and private is it’s hard to choose what’s best for the

students. Whether the private or public you are going to choose you must be aware if

the students are doing well because school are just only stepping stones that helps the

students. So, it still depends on the student if they want to excel.

According to Lubienski "No child left behind" which is important in every students

whether it is private or public. The quotes shows that every students and children must

be educated the way the school is private or even public because both school are able

to get every students being educated without being discriminated.

CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

9
PARTICIPANTS- The researcher will conduct their study at Pantabangan National High

School and Saint Andrew School Inc. The researcher will survey exactly 100 students

from Pantabangan National High School and Saint Andrew School. 60 students from

PNHS and 40 students out of 118 from SAS of Pantabangan Inc. Random sampling will

be used in choosing the said number of respondents.

DATA COLLECTION- In order to obtain the needed data, the researcher will use survey

form. Questionnaires will be distributed to the Senior High School students of PNHS

and SAS Inc. The questionnaire immediately collected right after each respondent had

finished answering.

INSTRUMENTS – Survey or the questionnaire about the perception of SHS students

will be used as a research instrument. Students from SAS and PNHS will answer the

survey question in one by one.

DATA ANALYSIS- The researcher will use the formula P=F×100/Number of

respondents to complete the percentage of the respondents based on the answer in the

survey form or the questionnaire, Where:

P= Percentage

F= Frequency

N= Number of respondents
