Community profiling is a social research method that aims to gather data

according to the description of the characteristics of a specific community. It is the

identification of needs and resources which provides an action plan in resolving the
identified issues, problems, and improving the quality of life. It builds up an overview of
a particular community using various techniques. Community profiling aims to address
different aspects of people's lives such as the area as a place to live, as a social
community, economic community, political community, as a personal space, and as a
part of the city. On the other hand, needs assessment is the identification of issues,
concerns, and problems that are being experienced by the community through the use
of particular tools or methods for assessment. It is an evaluation that enables us to
know the specific concerns of the citizens or members of a particular group or
community. After identifying the major problem, then various approaches and methods
will be applied in resolving the issue. Community profiling and needs assessment are
related to each other in a way that it identifies the needs, issues, and concerns in
understanding the community. It will give us knowledge and wisdom in understanding
the condition of the community. With the data and information being collected by these
approaches, we are able to consolidate all of the concerns and identify the major issue
that urgently needs resolution so that the quality of life people have in a certain
community will improve. The integration of community profiling and needs assessment
enables us to identify the courses of action to be done in order to address the problems
being described in the profiling as well as the issues and concerns being told by the
members of a specific group in the community while conducting a needs assessment.
