ACTIVITY 3
Conducting a research study is a systematic process. There are
particular elements that you have to consider to ensure its success. I have to
know these things because these will ensure the success of my research study.
This will guide me to understand the strengths, weaknesses and limitations of my
study. These will help me to determine the appropriate methods and tools to be
used on gathering data for my research. First of all, I must identify the research
problem as well as its purpose and benefits in society. It is important to determine
the risks and factors that will affect it and the methods and tools that will be used
in gathering data. The availability of resources should be determined to
understand the limitations of the research study. The data to be collected will
depend on the type of research and research problem you have chosen. It might
be quantitative or qualitative data and depending on what kind of information to be
collected according to the research problem. The data will be collected from your
respondents that is chosen through a specific sampling tool. It may be
observational, derived, experimental, and simulation.

Reporter:

It's been a year since the coronavirus disease 2019 have started affecting the lives of many
people in the world. Since then, a lot of things have changed that have greatly challenged every
person on how to cope with the current environment. It has a profound effect that causes a
complete transition of different aspects of life. Challenges and problems arise such as loss of
livelihood, health issues, economic shutdown, changes in the educational system, and shortage
of essential goods and food. In order to prevent the virus, we must consider different protocols
and health guidelines implemented by the department of health, world health organizations and
by the government.

We, as citizens could help in preventing the spread of virus by just following the rules and
protocols. First, we must wear mask and other protective equipment. Make sure that these
protective equipment are prescribed by the health organizations. Also, report immediately to
the authorities or health institutions if you feel symptoms that are the same with COVID 19.
Then, practice social distancing. Stay at home especially if you don’t have a relevant purpose to
go outside. If it is essential, make sure to stay a meter away from the people. Lastly, always
sanitize your environment as well as your body before and after going outside or interacting
with other people.

According to the department of health, it is important that we should slow down the spread of
COVID 19. In this way, the number of people getting infected will decrease. However, this will
only be attained if all of us will follow these protocols that was implemented. Simple following
of guidelines and being responsible of your actions would be a big help in preventing the
disease. In challenging times like this, we must unite and help each other. Let us beat COVID –
19 !

Activity 1:

Evaluative Statement:

1. People should not always blame everything to the government for the insufficient assistance
that they received. Some of them were not really on the marginalized sector of society. They
even use the assistance for gamble and buying things that are not essential.

2. Every person could contribute in preventing the disease. Simple following of protocols and
guidelines will be a big help in stopping the spread of the virus. They can contribute by just
simply staying at home, wearing protective equipment, maintaining social distancing, and
informing everybody about the updates of COVID – 19.

3. You should not lose hope when you are infected by COVID 19. There is still a chance that you
will survive if you will follow what the medical professionals are advising you to do. Drink and
eat foods that will strengthen your immune system and drink the appropriate medicines
prescribed to you by your doctor.
4. It is okay to enroll for this school year even if you don’t have an internet connection in your
home. You can enroll to a school where they do modular learning instead of online learning.
With modular learning, you don’t need to secure an internet connection and a gadget because
you will learn through modules.

5. Everybody must follow minimum health protocols every time they go outside. Protocols such
as social distancing, wearing masks, washing hands, and using alcohol could help in preventing
the spread of the infection.

Activity 2:

Claim: Leadership starts by knowing ourselves first.

Counterclaim: Leadership will start by knowing the people we lead and serve.
Reason: We should start by knowing ourselves first to be aware of our strengths and
weaknesses as a person and our limitations as well before leading someone else.
Evidence: You can’t lead somebody if you don’t know yourself. Being aware of yourself builds
a strong character, identity, and purpose. If you know your limitations and abilities, then you
are aware of what would be its impact on people.

Reflection: Thermodynamics

The second law of thermodynamics explains why energy flows in a certain direction. It shows
the losing of energy from high to low during the process. In the case of the hot milk, the heat or
the thermal energy of the milk had moved to the surface of the cup or the surroundings which
has lower energy. The milk serves as a hot reservoir or the source of heat. The heat transfers
spontaneously or irreversibly from higher energy to lower energy.

Reflection:

What can you contribute as a SHS student to reduce the adverse effects of too much CO 2 ?

As a SHS student, we can contribute in reducing the adverse effects of too much CO 2 by
avoiding it to happen. We should not burn our garbage since it will release too much CO 2 in the
air. If possible, walk or ride a bike especially if your destination is near. Instead of using a dryer,
hang your clothes outside. Unplug all of your appliances and equipment when not used. Skip on
using disposable materials that are made of plastics instead use your own materials that are
reusable and washable.

Reflection:

In at most 5 sentences, discuss ways that we can do so as not to overwork our kidneys in
order to maintain the pH balance of our body.

Kidneys are vital organs that keeps the pH balance of the body. In order not to overwork
these organs, the first thing is to monitor the food that we are eating and drinking. It is
important to drink plenty of water because this will help the kidneys clean the toxins in your
body. Maintaining a healthy diet will provide you vitamins and minerals that is good for the
kidneys. Stop drinking alcohol and smoking of cigarettes because it will increase your blood
pressure that might be a symptom of a kidney disease.

Reflection:

What can we do to help solve this problem?

Marine ecosystems are at risk because of the increase of CO 2 emissions in the

atmosphere. In order to prevent this problem, we must dispose our garbage properly instead of
throwing it into bodies of water. Recycle things that can still be used instead of throwing or
burning them. Walk or ride on a bicycle especially if your destination is walking distance only.
Conserve energy by unplugging equipment and appliances when not in use and if possible, you
may use solar energy.

1. What great adaptations of books do you know of? Which adaptations can you think that are
terrible? Choose an adaptation of a literacy work that you believe was not successful, why?

The books that I know who have great adaptation is the Harry Potter series and Nicholas
Sparks’ books. There are also books that have terrible adaptations such as The Percy Jackson
Series and Eragon. The Percy Jackson Series was not successful that it receives a lot of criticisms.
The movie did not include some of the significant events that happened in the book. They also
alter the story by incorporating characters and events that did not happen in the book which
made the avid readers disappointed. They plot was not properly conveyed and not
comprehensive enough for viewers to understand the story.

2. How did having read the book first, help you to better understand the movie?

Books have emphasis on the visualizations of the characters and its story. The plot is
well defined and you can understand or predict what will happen next. The scenes are
connected and relevant to each other. The book also contains the whole story that is why it is
better to read the book first before watching the movie. This will help you understand the plot
of the story since in the movies, the plot is shortened and sometimes it does not include
significant events. It also deepen your understanding about the scenes and the characters about
why they are involved, their backgrounds, and their role in the story.

Activity 2: Spoken Word Poetry

For the youth of today,

In these challenging days.

Let me remind you that,

There is no need to rush.

Love can wait,

If it’s true love then have faith.

You don’t have to rush your decisions,

Think once, twice, there’s no limitations.

Take things one at a time,

There are lots of mountains to climb.

Believe in yourself and your capabilities.

Utilize it, there’s a lot of possibilities.

There is a right time for everything,

It is not impossible when you are believing.

I hope this poem of mine will guide you,

Be better in life and make your dreams come true.
