Muharram

The first month in

the Islamic year.
What do we do
in Muharram?
We go to
Almatam.
We listen to the
Alqari / Alshaik.
We go to
Alaza.
We wear dark /
black clothes.
We don’t watch
TV.
We don’t listen
to music or
songs.
Why are we Sad in Muharram?

We are sad because it is

the special time when we
remember Imam Hussain
and what happened to
him in Karbala , Iraq.
Who is Imam Hussain?
Imam Hussain
His grandfather: prophet
Mohammed.
His father: Imam Ali ibn Abi
Talib.
His mother: Fatima bint
Muhammed.
Yezid tried to force Imam
Hussain to do his bayat.
Bayat means to agree with
whatever Yezid wanted.

The Imam knew that this was

wrong so he refused.
Listening to Yezid would mean
the end of Islam.
In Karbala Imam Husain (AS)
calledout “Is there anyone to help
me?” This call is for us too, and is
valid even today, to rise up against
injustice and baatil (falsehood).
Each time we obey Allah’s
commands, we are responding to
our Imam’s call.
Do we wear light clothes or
black clothes in Muharram?
Do we go to almatam or the
garden in Muharram?
What is the name of Imam
Hussain’s Mom / Mother?
What is the name of Imam
Hussain’s Dad / Father?
