I.Tittle of the Program: Positive Discipline in Everyday Teaching
II. Rationale
Managing learner’s behavior is one of the toughest roles of teachers. Performing this role has become
even more challenging because of the global pandemic, not only for us but also for the parents, since that now
learners will be taught remotely, spending their time at home and in virtual classrooms. As the new ways of
doing things continue, behavioral patterns among our learners also begin to adjust. Therefore, it’s a must that
teachers should keep on strategizing innovative ways on how to effectively manage learner’s behaviors
through positive and non-violent ways and ensure that the learners will have a safe, friendly and motivating
learning environment. Though it is tough and takes conscious time and effort, I believe that through the help
of God, and with strong partnership with the parents, “nothing will be impossible” for teachers whose
commitment and passion to do beyond what is expected of them just to ensure that a quality education will be
still delivered to the learners amidst this pandemic.
IIL Program or Course Description
Positive discipline brings together the knowledge and the mindset for both parents and teachers to meet new
normal challenges. Parenting is more rewarding as parents learn to promote children's natural potential for
optimal outcomes.
You will learn how through positive discipline:
-The interactions between parents/ teacher and children become more pleasant and peaceful.
-Students learn to understand and manage their emotions, thoughts, and behavior.
-Students gain a healthy sense-of-self by feeling competent and accepted.
This training will introduce you to the major theories behind positive discipline. The importance of
understanding key aspects of student’s development is explored. You will learn the importance of a close
healthy parent/teacher-child/student relationship and how this can be achieved.
It also aims to equip teachers with skills on the different strategies in managing learners’ behaviors in distance
learning through positive and non-violent discipline.
