B. Inspection on Bench
1. State of Charge
- Check baterry Specific Gravity Cell 1 Normal Check the amount of electrolyte in
Cell 2 Isi each cell. If insufficient, refill with
Cell 3 Isi distilled water
Cell 4 Isi - Full Charge: ........... at 200C
Cell 5 Isi - Result : Good/Bad
Cell 6 Normal
2. Check fusible link Continuity/No continuity Check the fusible links for continuity
3. Armature Coil
- Inspect commutator for dirty and Good/Bad If the surface is dirty or burn, clean it
burnt with sand paper (N0. 400)
- Check that commutator is not Good/Bad Using an ohm meter, check that
grounded there is no continuity
- Check commutator for open Good/Bad Using an ohm meter, check for
circuit continuity between the segment of
the commutator
- Run out of armature ................................. mm Maximum circle run out : 0,4 mm. If
Tidak ada alat ukur the run out is greater than maximum
corret on a lathe or replace
- Depth of commutator groove ................................. mm Check that all segment are clean and
Tidak ada alat ukur free of foregn particles. Correct the
segment groove with a hacksaw
blade and smooth out the edge
- Diameter of commutator 26,8 mm - Minimum dia.: 27 mm
- Result : Good/Bad
- Overruning clutch Good/Bad Rotate the pinion clockwisw and
check that it turs freely. Try to ratate
the pinion counterclockwise and
check that it locks
4. Brushes
- Length of brushes 13,30 mm Good/Bad
- Measure Brush Spring load with .......................... kg/lb/N - Min. Intalled load: 0,9 – 1,8

- Result : Good/Bad
- Check insulation of brush holder Good/Bad Check the fusible Using an ohm
meter, make sure that there is no
continuity between the positive and
negative brush holder
5. Field Coil
- Check field coil for open circuit Continuity/No continuity Using an ohm meter, check for
continuity between the fiel coil brush
leads.
- Check that field coil is not Continuity/No continuity Using an ohm meter, make sure that
gounded there is no continuity between the
fiel coil end and field frame
6. Solenoid (magnetic Switch)
- Plunger Good/Bad Push in the plunger and release it.
Check taht it returns quickly to its
original position.
- Pull in coil open circuit test Good/Bad Using an ohm meter, check for
continuity between terminal 50 and
switc body (ground), if there is no
continuity, replace magnetic switch .
- Hold in coil open circuit test Good/Bad Using an ohm meter, check for
continuity between terminal 50 and
terminal C.if there is no continuity,
replace magnetic switch .
- Perform Pull in coil test Good/Bad Connect the battery to the magnetic
switch. Check that the pinion moves
outward.
- Perform Hold in coil test Good/Bad With the battery connected to the
magnetic switch and with the pinion
out, disconnect the negative lead
from terminal C. Check that the
pinion remains out.
- Pinion return test Good/Bad Disconnet the negative lead from the
switch body. Check that the pinion
retracts.
7. No Load Test .............................. Amp. - Specified current: .... Amp/11 V.

C. Inspection On Vehicle
- Voltage drop (Battery Cranking 14,01 Volt - Specification: 12,81 Volt
Voltage) - Result : Good/Bad
- Terminal 30 - ground of solenoid 14,21 Volt Good/Bad
- Terminal 50 - ground of solenoid 0,002 - 0,001 Volt Good/Bad
