WEEK 7 & 8 SUMMATIVE ASSESSMENT 1:
MIDTERM MAJOR PLATE
A PROPOSED ONE-STOREY RESIDENCE

PART 1. DESIGN APPLICATION

BACKGROUND OF THE PROJECT:
Mr. and Mrs. Santos recently bought a 468.00 sq.m. lot in an exclusive subdivision in Quezon City. In the said lot,
they dream of finally having their sprawling one-storey residence with a contemporary design theme.

Mr. Santos is a contractor of his own construction company. He works at home and normally holds his meetings with
small groups at his home office. He would like that this office be private, with an inconspicuous access to the living
area of the house.

Mrs. Santos is a government employee. She works during the week and enjoys the weekends doing gardening and
watching movies. She wishes that her plants be placed on the northern side of the house, as this is the most private
part of the property and doesn’t want to be disturbed by passing neighbors as she does her gardening chores.

The eldest of the Santos children, is their 18-year old son. He is very athletic and plays basketball almost every
afternoon. He also plays the guitar and tries to get as much practice as he can.

The second child is their 15-year old daughter. She is a high school student who loves reading. She has a wide
collection of books which she likes to keep in her bedroom.

Their youngest child is a 7-year old daughter. Being the youngest, she is very playful and loves toys. At her age, she
loves to sing, dance and entertain the family.

During weekends, the family enjoys their time together with outdoor barbeque brunches and watching home movies.
They also have relatives from the province who visit them from time to time.

THE LOT:
The lot is a 468.00 sq. m. lot, with a frontage of 18 sq.m. The front of the lot faces the morning sun, a 6.00 m. road
and a 1.5 m. sidewalk. The lot is located in an exclusive subdivision in Quezon City with an R-2 Occupancy
Classification.
