2 Grievance Gross misuse and exploitation
of drinking water in fresh
water lakes and inland water
bodies through unregulated
and intensive use of cage
culture farming and
aquaculture activities causing
intense pollution to fresh water
lakes
3 Grounds That illegal exploitation of
Vadavali Lake continues by
way of unregulated
aquaculture activities in
Maharashtra. That there are
serious consequences to the
health of villagers because of
use of chemicals in
aquaculture activities in
Maharashtra and that there is
no comprehensive policy in

activities.

Department to not
grant any further
licenses for
aquaculture activities in
inland water bodies
until a comprehensive
policy with a mandatory
EIA is issued by State
of Maharashtra
