LIBERALISM

• Liber- free men in short men who neither serfs nor slaves.

• A view that sees more need for change and improvement in social relations requiring
government involvement(Schrems 2011)

• Society must be free if it is possible free from government intervention(Moren and Islam 2011)

• It is a belief that man is generally good and that his ability to reason allows him to attain
economic, political and social progress(Dooley 2013)

Values of Liberalism

• Individualism- It is belief in the supreme importance of the individual over any social group or
collective body.

• Freedom- the ability to think or act as one wishes a capacity that can be associated with the
individual, a social group or a nation.

• Reason- the capacity of the human being to take charge of their own lives and fashion their
own destinies

• Justice- It is a moral standard of fairness and impartiality

• Toleration- Willingnesss to accept views or action which one is in disagreement.

production and services but which would retain institutions as the means of regulating them

Religious Fundamentalism
• It is associated with inflexibility, dogmatism, authoritarianism or worst violence. It is
characterized by a rejection of the distinction between politics and religion

• It is concerned with the attainment of gender equality in the political, economic and
social spheres of life. Its primary focus is the position of woman in the society
Environmentalism
• It is an ideology focusing on the idea that environment is endangered and must be
preserved through regulation and lifestyle changes.

environment degradation that is more of a policy orientation rather an ideological
stance

Process power The control over methods of production and analysis placed the individual of
influencing how inputs are transformed into outputs and controlling the analytical process used to
make choices.

Referent power- The ability to control another behavior because the person wants to identify with the
power source. Can be enhanced by linking to morality and ethics and long term vision

power is that they provide an ability to aid or assist another person her symbols are active and
other directed.

• RATIONAL LEGAL AUTHORITY

– It is a leadership based on established law. People obey the leader or executive because
they accept his or her power under law.

• TRADITIONAL AUTHORITY

– The leadership is based from the culture that is people often give allegiance to the one
who occupy the instructional position

• COERCIVE AUTHORITY

– The power to use force such as police or military force to demand obedience form
subordinate
