REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES
20
This chapter includes a summary of related literature and studies that provide
essential and valuable information for conducting and conceptualizing this
study.

Nowadays, current technology has brought fresh innovation to document
management techniques, ranging from electronic document management
systems that allow employees to view documents in a single area to use and
share documents ef ciently from anywhere with a secure internet connection.
The role of mobile devices in our lives has been the main topic of numerous
studies in recent years, and the number of these studies has increased
22
signi cantly. Instead of traditional telephones, many people tend to purchase
devices that support multiple applications, such as mobile phones or tablet
computers. The ease of use, variety of applications, and richness of functions
are the most important reasons for these preferences (Aldhaban et al., 2015)
Moreover, based on the ndings of Foti and Mendez (2014), students are now
74
using their mobile devices to facilitate learning outside of the classroom,
70
72
indicating that they have used a variety of methods to ensure their academic
performance. They stated that mobile learning plays a signi cant role in
promoting education to students even outside the school premises.
71 23
Correspondingly, Ebiye (2015) considers the smartphone to be a mobile device
73
that enables students to gain quick access to information to achieve their
teaching and learning and academic research goals. A study entitled
"Deploying an Interactive Mobile Learning System in the Classroom" by
(Boyinbode & Fasunon, 2015) and based on their ndings that students
approve of M-Learning as a supplement to classroom learning. Consequently,
Suresh and Hemabala (2013) show that 84% of students positively affect
wireless handheld devices.

Mode. This study correlates to the proposed research by providing examination
subjects with an online and of ine feature.
"AN ANDROID-BASED REVIEWER APPLICATION FOR PHILIPPINE CIVIL SERVICE
EXAMINATION" by (Tuballas et al., n.d.) aims to evaluate, design, and create an
Android-based Reviewer App to supplement the conventional way of assessing
36
the Philippine Civil Service Examinations. Furthermore, the student can
download study materials to improve their skills and review materials that
37 38
cover various subject areas that will be included in the examination. This study
is related because it provides review materials for examinees.
39
According to Acietuna et.al. (2018) entitled "RevMe: The Usability of Mobile
Application Reviewer for the Preparation for College." research shows that the
75
74 40
proposed mobile application is designed to assist students who want to pass

the college entrance exam, but lack support and have no idea what they would

10
Another relevant application to the proposed research is - C.E.E.M.A.: College
Entrance Examination Mobile Application by Sagarino (2019) under System
Admission and Scholarship Examination of Mindanao State University. The
study aims to create and use a mobile application as a review tool for the
college entrance examination, based on ndings that most users of the
established application have given it an excellent/perfect rating.
Etcuban & Pantinople (2018) concentrated on examining the effect of using a
mobile application in teaching mathematics subjects involving Grade 8
students at a public national high school in Cebu City, in the Philippines. in this
44
study, Researchers used a quasi-experimental style of research pretest-
45
posttest design. This study is somewhat related to the proposed mobile
application since, with the proposed application, the user will use their mobile
devices to access the review material and promote both learning and
preparation at the same time.
METHODOLOGY
This chapter includes the research design, data gathering procedures, design
and implementations, and scales to validate the system and respondents to
the evaluation.
Research Design
75

Requirement Planning. In this phase, the researchers brainstorm and gather
several data relating to the project also gather resources needed in developing
the mobile application. The researcher created an outline that serves as a guide
for the completion of required information and articles.
User Design. In this phase, designing the database and user interface is the
main activity of this phase. Developing the application based on information
gather relating to the existing related applications. Thus, the architectural and
47
logical design was constructed for a more manageable way to implement the
application ow.
Rapid Construction. In this stage, the researchers used the constructed
database, architectural, logical design, and user interface to develop the
48
program and application prototype.

ensuring that the recommendations and requirements are met. The application
52
is shared via Bluetooth or data transmission by the researchers. Users will test
the application and give an evaluation for improvement and recommendations.
10
The user should open or tap the Application Package File (APK File) after it has
53
been transferred, and the device will ask for con rmation if the user wants to

install the APK File.

Data Gathering Procedure
Various research methods were employed to achieve the project's goals and
76
meet the speci cations and designs needed. The researchers used the
71
practices described below to gather information for the project.
73 1
Internet. The internet was the researchers' most helpful data collection tool as
one of the data sources speci cally on related experiments, related designs,
and concepts that enriched the researchers' knowledge in developing the
mobile application.
Questionnaire. The researchers used the method to collect information about a
similar and current mobile learning app. It was needed to understand the
requirements and speci cations.
