Mister Phileas Fogg
He is a tall man with dark hair and a serious face. He is a wealthy gentleman of forty.
He is from London and he has a peculiar character. He is extremely meticulous, disciplined and
punctual. He plans every bit of his everyday life. For instance, he wakes up at 8 o´clock every
morning and must have breakfast exactly twenty three minutes later.
He often goes to the Reform club where he spends most of his time chatting with the members
of the club.
Jean Passepartout
He is a french servant. The meaning of his name is “goes-everywhere”. He loves his job and he
wants to do his chores immediately and correctly. He is an obedient butler who wants to do
everything right to keep his master happy.
Detective Fix
He is a short man with small eyes. He is investigating Mr. Fogg because he thinks Mr. Fogg
robbed the bank of England.
Princess Aouda
She is a beautiful Indian princess. She is rescued by Mr. Phileas and Passepartout from a group
of hindu priests who want her to be burnt alive with her dead husband following the sati
ritual. She will later share adventures with the two men. She is a very kind and grateful woman.
Plot
One day Mr. Fogg says to his friends at the Reform club that he can cross the world in 80
days and he makes a bet of 20,000 pounds with one member of the club about being able to
travel around the world in 80 days. He goes with his servant Passepartout and they meet
princess Aouda who will join the adventure too. Detective Fix follows them because he thinks
Mr. fogg is a thief. They have great adventures!!!!
On the left is Jean Passepartout, performed by a very famous comedian from Mexico called
“Cantinflas”, in the middle princess Aouda and on the right Mr. Phileas Fogg.
Remember that in 1872 when the novel was written, planes didn’t exist !!!
