misconduct charge and if found guilty, the student will receive a zero mark for the
assessment.
· This paper consists of 1 section of 6 short answer questions
· Answers to questions should be written in a new word document that you create and
then uploaded into the appropriate link on Moodle. Make sure you clearly number
each question-do not type out the question just clearly insert the NUMBER of the

Section A: Total 35 Marks -each question is worth 7 marks
Choose 5 FIVE of the 6 questions below and answer using
approximately 150 -200 words for each question

1. Using examples describe key characteristics of democratic and autocratic leadership styles
(3.5 marks). Why would workers under a democratic style leader normally perform better
in the leader’s absence than would workers under an autocratic style leader. Please
explain using follower readiness principles? (3.5 marks.) Total 7 marks

2. By identifying and explaining each of the 4 elements of Emotional Intelligence (3.5 marks) explain
which of these would you consider to be important for an effective leader and provide us with an
example of a business leader that demonstrates these. (3.5 marks). Total 7 marks

3. Explain each of the four (4) Hersey and Blanchard leader behaviours/styles using “task and
relationship” as outlined in the situational theory of leadership (3.5marks). Explain which style
is the most efficient for a Manager leading a project with a group of very experienced workers
and compare it to which style would be appropriate to a group of inexperienced workers?

4. Identify each of the 5 stages of Team Development and explain what happens at each stage of
development (2.5 marks). What actions would a leader take at each stage to move a team from
stage 1 to stage 5 (4.5 marks)? Total 7 marks

5. “Leadership and Management is the same activity….” Do you agree or disagree with
thisstatement, explain why? (2 marks) As part of your answer,using examples, explain the
difference between the activity and actions of Management and Leadership (5 marks). Total 7
marks

6. What are “Mental Models”? Explain the term and provide one example of a Mental Model (3.5
marks) Why is it so hard for Leaders to change their assumptions about team members. Use the
Ladder of Inference Model to explain your answer? (3.5 marks) Total 7 marks
