ACTIVITY 10: ONLJNE PLATFORMS

1. Presentation/ Visualization - are tools used to assist in conveying information during a presentation. When a
speaker is verbally addressing an audience it is often necessary to use supplementary equipment and media to
clarify the point. If the audience is large or the speaker is soft-spoken, a public address system may be employed.

A.) ZOHO - is a web-based online office suite containing


word processing, spreadsheets, presentations,
databases, note-taking, wikis, web conferencing,
customer relationship management (CRM), project
management, invoicing and other applications.

BASIC FEATURES:

B.) PREZI - are presentation tool that can be used as an
alternative to traditional slide making programs such as
PowerPoint. Prezi is a presentation tool that can be
used for presenting ideas/slides on a virtual campus.

C.) MINDMEISTER - a tool that allows to collaboratively


create mind maps and share them online.
MindMeister is an online mind mapping application
that allows its users to visualize, share and present
their thoughts via the cloud. MindMeister was
launched in 2007 by MeisterLabs GmbH, a software
company founded by Michael Hollauf and Till Vollmer.

2.) Cloud Computing - is the delivery of computing services—including servers, storage, databases, networking,
software, analytics, and intelligence—over the Internet (“the cloud”) to offer faster innovation, flexible resources,
and economies of scale.

A.) GOOGLE DRIVE - a file storage and synchronization


service developed by Google. Google Drive is a file storage
and synchronization service developed by Google.
Launched on April 24, 2012, Google Drive allows users to
store files on their servers, synchronize files across devices,
and share files.

email from someone with images or attachments it easy to save to Drive.

You can work offline even you don’t have an internet connection after you activate the offline mode.
❤️Convert PDFs to Docs

Google Drive allows you to edit PDF files by converting them to Docs without adobe acrobat. Simply right-click on
PDF file that you need to edit on Docs from the Drive. Click “Open with” and choose “Google Docs” and it will open
your PDF as a Docs file.

B.) DROPBOX - a cloud storage service that lets you save


files online and sync them to your devices. Dropbox is
designed to be an invisible app. It gives you a folder on
your computer that automatically backs up and syncs
your files across all your devices—and also keeps them in
the cloud so you can access them from any computer,
anywhere in the world.

3.) Social Media - Using websites and applications to communicate informally with others, find people, and share
similar interests. Allows users to directly connect with one another through groups, networks, and location.

A.) FACEBOOK - a social networking site that makes it easy


for you to connect and share with family and friends
online. Facebook's mission is to give people the power to
build community and bring the world closer together.
People use Facebook to stay connected with friends and family, to discover what's going on in the world, and to
share and express what matters to them.

BASIC FEATURES:

❤️Newsfeed

The news feed is the primary system through which users


are exposed to content posted on the network.

❤️Friends

"Friending" someone on the platform is the act of sending


another user a "friend request" on Facebook. The two
people are Facebook friends once the receiving party
accepts the friend request.

❤️Wall

The Wall is the original profile space where Facebook users' content until December 2011 was displayed. A user's
Wall is visible to anyone with the ability to see their full profile, and friends' Wall posts appear in the user's News
Feed.

❤️Timeline

In September 2011, Facebook introduced "Timeline" at its developer conference, intended to revamp users' profiles
in order to show content based on year, month and date. The Timeline also encouraged scrolling, with constantly
loading story posts of users' pasts.

❤️Messages and inbox

Facebook Messenger is an instant messaging service and software application.

Facebook Messenger lets Facebook users send messages to each other. Complementing regular conversations,
Messenger lets users make voice calls and video calls both in one-to-one interactions and in group conversations.

❤️Notifications

Notifications tell the user that something has been added to his or her profile page.Initially, notifications for events
were limited to one per event; these were eventually
grouped category wise.

B.) INSTAGRAM - a photo sharing app which allows users


to assign filters to photos and share them with followers.
Instagram is an app for your smart phone that you can
use to keep up with your friends and family, as well as
your favorite celebrities and more! You can capture or
upload your own photos and videos, edit them
with Instagram's built-in editor, and share them with
your followers.

BASIC FEATURES:

You’re probably familiar with Instagram Video posts – they’re like regular photo posts, except they allow for video up
to 60 seconds long. You can add a filter, a caption and tag your location before you share the post.

Live Video is different than Instagram Video because well, it’s live. Here’s how it works:

Instagram TV is an app within Instagram that gives users the ability to share videos that are up to an hour long – like
a TV episode.

One of the biggest additions to Instagram as of late is the Stories feature. Stories is similar to Snapchat in that users
add clips of video to a story which is viewable for 24 hours before it vanishes.

Shoppable tags allow businesses to tag their products in


their photos.

C.) TWITTER - a 'microblogging' system that allows you to


send and receive short posts called tweets. Twitter is an
American microblogging and social networking service on
which users post and interact with messages known as
"tweets". Registered users can post, like and retweet
tweets, but unregistered users can only read them.

-Twitter’s increasing popularity has gotten many people


on board and using the web application.

❤️Auto Complete in Tweets

- Auto complete is an interaction design pattern that


involves displaying a list of suggestions as the user types
in text.

- With a 140 character limit, it’s often difficult to have


links in a tweet without robbing yourself out of precious characters.

❤️Tweets-threading

- Twitter is a great source of information and is a wonderful forum for discussing various topics.
❤️Allow Tweets directed to a group of people (“group tweet”)

- The double @ serves to differentiate a tweet directed to a single user from one that’s directed to a group of users.

including webpage layout, content production, and
graphic design.

6.) Mapping - Web mapping or online mapping is the process of using the maps delivered by geographic information
systems (GIS) on the Internet, more specifically in the
World Wide Web (WWW).

around the world. Google Maps uses machine learning in
combination with various data sources including
aggregate location data, historical traffic patterns, local
government data, and real-time feedback from users, to
predict traffic.
