Course Description
This course deals with the study and analysis of selected topics in Philippine History that have implications to national
security. Though the discussions will tackle traditional topics in PhilippineHistory, the discussion will put emphasis to
events and issues that affect the PhilippineNational Security and consequently influence the formulation of national
security, policies, programs and strategies.

Course ILO’s After completing this course, the cadets should be able to:

1.Discuss the relevance of Philippine History to National Security;


2.Trace the developmentof the Philippine National Security Policy and Strategy;
3.Develop their critical and analytical skillsin uncovering threats to National Security through their study of Philippine
History;
4.Develop their ability to formulate logical conclusions or ideas after going over unorganized and scattered historical
events that would help them become good decision makers and implementers of national security policies, programs,
and strategies;
5.Effectively communicate to others, using various techniques and avenue, that an event or issue in
PhilippineHistoryaffects the national security of the country;
6.Propose/recommend solutions to present-dayproblems, in the aspect of national security, based on their
understanding of the root causes and their anticipation of future scenarios; and
7.Display the ability to work in a team either as a leader or member of national security establishmentby effectively
inspiring the members or contributing to the accomplishment of mission of the team, respectively.

Course Requirement:

Course Policies/Guidelines: In addition to existing policies, this course will also have the following policies/guidelines:
1. Strict observance of classroom procedures as stated in the GRAYBOOK.

2. Active involvement in all discussions and activities is expected in every session.


3. Prescribed textbook must always be brought in class.
4. Grade discrepancy must be reported to the Instructor immediately. Prescribed time for rectification of grades is 48 hours only.
5. Missed LEs due to authorized absence (guard posting, entrucking, OB, PMASH, VLUNA etc.) is not subject to make-up LEs.
6. Make-up UEs shall be taken within 48 hours after the scheduled exam except for valid reasons. Make-up unit exam beyond the
prescribed period of 48 hours incurs a score of zero.
7. All course requirements must be submitted on time. Late submissions shall not be considered except for valid reasons.
8. Extra Instructions shall be administered as per advice.
9. Power Points will not be supplied that will serve as reviewers hence cadets are expected to take down notes during class.
However, lectures discussed not lifted from the textbook, materials will be provided.
