1. 1. Reading as Skill - Reading becomes a skill
when it has the ability to look
at and understand the
meaning of the written words,
letters or symbols. It enables
one to be able to assimilate a
written work within a short
period while reading.

reading written text or simply
taking process. One cannot
immediately learn how to
read by simply looking at the
symbols, letters or numerals,
it takes processes. For him to
fully comprehend what texts
he have read, he needs to take
the reading process well.

materials but they also learn
to understand and interpret

Its Implication to you as
Reading Teachers
-As we see, reading develops
a whole range of language
processes. If learners acquire
or takes reading as skill, in
that sense, it makes teaching
reading to learners easier. It
opens doors for them for to be
motivated.
-Teachers have a sine qua non
roles in helping learners to
develop and maintain a
positive attitude towards
learning reading and literacy.
-Teachers are to the facilitate
reading to learners in a way
that learners develop critical
and creative thinking.
What do you think are the
challenges based on what are
the reality in the field?
-Learners in our school, to
be honest, has a low
foundation when it comes
to making reading as a
skill.
-Learners in our school
when it comes to reading
has a limited time and less
exposure to language. That
is the very main reason
why reading as process is
quite difficult for them
because they have more
time in finding a living
than having time reading.
Thus, their time learning to
read is compromised in
other house works.
-One of the challenges we
educators experience in
developing comprehension
to learners is the lack of
interest to learn and even
maximize participation in
such reading engagement.
 DEVELOPMENTAL PLAN
STOP Prejudicing learners that they are slow and struggling learners.

SUSTAIN The approaches on Reading program such as remedial reading

START Diagnose learners reading ability and for those who are already developed readers,
supplement reading materials according to their needs.
