JONTSIL™ PU (PG)
JONTSIL PU (PG) is a Single component, polyurethane based, elastomeric joint sealant based
upon polyurethane resins.
Specification:
A single component, polyurethane based, elastomeric joint sealant shall be JONTSIL PU (PG).
It is based upon polyurethane resins. The product shall exhibit excellent bonding. The product
shall have elongation up to 600% & modulus of elasticity approximately 0.25 N/mm 2.

Uses:
▪ Joint sealant for walls and ceilings.
▪ As a sealing compound for aluminum window and ACP sheets.
▪ Joint sealant for expansion joints in buildings and civil works.
▪ Interior and exterior use.
▪ For use on joints with up to 25% movement.
▪ Sealant for prefabricated concrete elements.

Advantages:
▪ High resistance to weather and ageing. Resistant in tropical climates.
▪ Excellent recovery capacity.
▪ Does not harden over time, even at temperatures between –30º C and + 80º C.
▪ Excellent UV resistance, does not exhibit thermo plasticity (does not soften with heat).
▪ Good non-sag properties, suitable for vertical surfaces and soffits.
▪ Early resistance to rain.
▪ Forms a blister-free surface.
▪ User friendly – excellent extrude-ability/gun-ability.
▪ Single component, easily applied.

JONTSIL PU (PG) is available in 600 ml. pack.

Coverage:
Actual coverage of JONTSIL PU (PG) is depending upon dimension of the joint.
Again to ensure long term performance the depth of the joint should be designed to be
approximately half of the width especially on joints >25mm wide.

Application procedure:
Surface preparation:
For concrete, Surface preparation is most important. Ensure concrete is at least 28 days old
and sound. Oil, grease, mould release agent, curing membrane, and such other contaminants
must be removed by mild detergent and water, and by thoroughly scrubbing with a soft brush.
It is especially important to remove traces of laitence and cement grout. In general, a
minimum direct tensile strength of 1.5N/mm² is required. For the joint sealant to function

correctly it is essential that bond breaker tape or polyethylene closed cell backer rod be used
to regulate joint depth and prevent three sided adhesion.

Priming:
On well prepared dry, sound concrete older than 28 days, masonry or metal or glass surfaces
JONTSIL PU (PG) does not require a primer.
For all other situations like, Porous substrates; e.g. concrete, masonry, renders, & for Non-
porous substrates; e.g. metals, ceramics. Use of JONTSIL PU PRIMER is must.

Application:
The product is supplied ready for application. Cut open the foil sausage (or the nozzle) at one
end and place in a manual or pneumatic gun and apply immediately. The product should be
tooled smooth with a spatula or with non-alcoholic liquid to create a concave surface free of
bubbles. It can be applied directly both horizontally and vertically.
JONTSIL PU (PG) is not suitable for:
▪ Exposure to chemicals.
▪ Permanent exposure to water.
▪ Contact with foodstuff.
▪ Natural stones.
The colour shades can be affected by environmental influences (e.g. UV radiation), however
a change in the colour shade does not affect the properties of the product. Do not use any
smoothing agents containing alcohol.

Storage and Shelf life All:

Store under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperature. In
tropical climates the product must be stored in an air-conditioned environment. Shelf life is
12 months when stored as above.

Safety precautions:
As with all chemical products, care should be taken during use and storage to avoid contact
with eyes, mouth, skin and foodstuffs (which can also be tainted with vapour until product

fully cured or dried). Treat splashes to eyes and skin immediately. If accidentally ingested,
seek immediate medical attention. Keep away from children and animals. Reseal containers
after use. Do not reuse containers for storage of consumable item.
