BALANCE SUPPORT

Balance is crucial for any student athlete because competitive sports and academics work
side by side the life of student athlete. However, the weight of burden of balancing the academics
and sport can be lessened if full support was given to them.

According to Life Fitness magazine, every student athlete has the invariable task to study
and compete; it’s like having two daytime jobs. Nevertheless, student athlete has to be always
attentive to not overwork himself beyond certain limits so as to reduce the potential for mental and
physical damage.

The assistance of the school, teachers, parents and students himself was very crucial in this
kind of situation.

Dr. Francisco L. Calingasan Memorial Colleges Inc. (IBCMI) has plenty of student athletes. As
the players give them pride, the school must have the supports that every athlete needs not just by
the means of giving them the financial support that they need for uniform and training expenses
instead the moral support every time they are out for a day of training and even in the day of their
competition.

After all, the education attained in sports can be incredibly valuable in other arenas of life.
The skills learned on sports teams, translate into success in the in the classroom: leadership,
resilience, self-discipline, patience, persistence, time management and self esteem.

On the other hand, players need to attend trainings outside but it is unavoidable that some
teachers do not give credits and incentives with them despite of their hardships to win.

While coaches encourage their athletes to get a lot of sleep of the next day, then teachers
ask their students to study more, give them more homework or stay after school. Teachers should
be more lenient towards the athlete and give them a break.

Meanwhile, parents must understand the social life of their children. It is also very
important to their well-being and it helps them relax. If a student athlete only had sports and
academics in their life then a mental and physical burnout would become very probably. Give them
a chance to hang out with their friends. After all, the sacrifice of their children can result to college
scholarship. For the college search, many student-athletes are given scholarships to attend a
university because they are incredible at the sports they do.

But most of all, the success of a student’s athlete comes down to one’s ability to manage
one’s time efficiently with social life, academic and sports.

It is important students must not forget the academic work as well. Just the because sport
schedule is intensifying it does not mean academic should be left behind. It is important to plan your
homework around the training schedule.

Our balance support will be the student-athletes guidance in their world colliding between
academic and sports.

Come what may

After losing hundreds of millions in revenues last year, opening past May could leave PBA

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) opening its 46th Season past May
doesn’t seem to be such a welcome alternative as far as the league’s leadership
is concerned.

But if push comes to shove, it may be the only option left for Asia’s pioneering
pro league to take.

After losing “hundreds of millions” of pesos in revenues last year from unrealized
television and gate receipts when it was able to hold only the Philippine Cup that was
played without live fans, commissioner Willie Marcial on Tuesday said that not being

The PE and Extra-Curricular Sport might look after the pandemic, and why it’s not as
bad as you think.
The face of the new P.E and Sports: New normal.

The benefits of sports in education are vast,

and they aren’t just physical benefits.
This article explores how sport positively impacts students
in their academic progression and beyond especially
in this new normal format in our curriculum.
As we consider The Future of PE after Covid-19, we know PE will not return to ‘normal’ for some
time, and distance learning or physical distancing (or both) may be in operation when we return
to school.

Much of our distance learning has been physical activity-based, with the view that we will
return to ‘normal’ reasonably soon. With the ‘new normal’ looking more likely to continue, we
must learn quickly. ‘“Go for the gap”’. Now is the time to practice what we preach, to show the
character and growth mind-set that we expect from our students to provide a long term plan
for meaningful physical education lessons.

Physical Literacy as defined by the International Physical Literacy Association: “Physical literacy
is the motivation, confidence, physical competence, knowledge, and understanding to value
and take responsibility for engagement in physical activities for life.”

This COVID 19 period is ironically a good testing ground to see which Teachers will be ready for
the long term. The Teachers who will do something will be fine: find ways to learn, innovate and
act. But the Teachers who do nothing and still expect to go back to the old ways may find
themselves without a livelihood soon. If one continues to get stuck in the past, they’ll surely be
left behind.

When this pandemic is all over, the ones who prepared today/now, will be ready for the new
normal. And so I ask again. What will you do? Do something or nothing?

You don’t ask for the torch, you earn it!

Ryan Garcia “Its my turn… im just saying, can we share the rig together and please pass the torch to me”

The 22-year-old Garcia, an unbeaten lightweight (21-0, 18 knockouts), posted on Tuesday, March 2,
through All Access Elite Boxing on Facebook: "To all my fans and supporters, my fight with Manny
Pacquiao is not happening right now."

Ryan Garcia woke up and found out he was just dreaming of fighting Manny Pacquiao. Weeks after
claiming a thrilling showdown with the eight-division world champion is in the offing, the prime prospect
finally backed down and said he would focus on another opponent instead.

This is a fight that has all the makings to be very real and an immensely important one at that given the
opportunity for Garcia to fast-track his way to becoming a household name. As long as the money and
signatures find their way into alignment, there are too many reasons to love this fight to worry whether
the timing is wrong.

But Ryan Garcia says that he will focus on another opponent instead.

"I tried my best after getting the call to fight him but didn't happen due to some issues I didn't expect to
come up but I'm already working on the next fight. I will always see Manny as an inspiration and
someone who is a legend and that I respect. I wish the best for him in life and boxing," he added.
