(JOHN JUANICO JR.

AB-PHILOSOPHY)

Here is my reflection about the song of St. Eugene De Mazenod which is the title

of the song is “awit kay San Eugenio”. The Filipino version of the song is awit kay san

Eugenio is very beautiful and inspiring song and the charism of saint Eugene de

mazenod is he serve and help the poor of the poorest. Saint Eugene De Mazenod is

from a sinner, he Do bad traits and evil things, but Don. Bartolo help him, the life of saint

Eugene has change because Don. Bartolo adopt him and teach the good aspects in life

and the life.

The life of St. Eugene De Mazenod starts with helping and serve the poor of the

poorest and he also travel around the world to spread and deliver the gospel of the

Lord. St. Eugene De Mazenod experience many trials and challenges but he did not

stop to achieve his dreams and desires in life.

Saint Eugene De Mazenod is the inspiration of the many people because he

serves and help the people to survive the poverty in life.

The Filipino song is different from the English song which is the “awit kay san

eugenio” because the Tagalog song is give the deeper meaning and clear

understanding of the song. The Tagalog song which is “awit kay san eugenio” is like a

writing an essay we write the flowering words and we cannot write the direct to the point

while the English song is very simple but beautiful and also the English song of saint

Eugene de mazenod is direct to the point.

My reflection about my own life as a Notre Dame University Student helpful to me

according to the charism of St. Eugene De Mazenod, the oblates, and as a Notre

Damean that is profound the song is to help and serve others, is I am very self-centered

person or they called selfish person because I always thought in myself that I don’t need

the help or to share my knowledge to other people.

People are always get anger to me because I am a selfish person, but the

oblates change my life for being selfish and self-centered because oblates came in our

community to teach and show the charism of St. Eugene De Mazenod and that is the

start or beginning of my life formation with the oblates.

St. Eugene De Mazenod is not self-centered person he help and serve the poor

of the poorest and also he travel around the world to preach the gospel of the Lord. I do

really love and salute St. Eugene that’s why I follow his charism and now I am not a

self-centered person. And someday I want to become a priest to serve poor people and

to help my family also.
