Fiction

A fiction is a deliberately fabricated account of something. It can also be a literary work based on imagination
rather than on fact, like a novel or short story. The Latin word fictus means “to form,” which seems like a good
source for the English word fiction, since fiction is formed in the imagination.

Science- Fiction Love stories

Horror stories A narrative genre in literature that
involves a mysterious, adventurous, or
spiritual story line where the focus is on
a quest that involves bravery and
is intended to frighten, scare, or
strong values, not always a love
disgust the focus is on creating a
interest. Examples are Pride and
feeling of fear

Gatsby, by F Scott Fitzgerald.

Ghost stories Bedtime stories

A tale about ghosts. More generally, the phrase may refer
to a tale based on imagination rather than fact. Ghost
stories exist in all kinds of literature, from folktales to
religious works to modern horror stories, and in most
cultures. Examples are The Woman in Black. By Hill, Susan
and The Turn of the Screw by James, Henry.
A traditional form of storytelling, where a story is
told to a child at bedtime to prepare the child for
sleep. The bedtime story has long been considered "a
definite institution in many families".
 Fairytales
Are children's stories about magical and
imaginary beings and lands. Stories involving
fantastic forces and beings such as fairies,
wizards, and kings. Examples are the stories
of Cinderella and Little Mermaid.
Folklore
stories, customs and beliefs in a culture
that are unwritten and passed down
orally from generation to generation.
Examples are Goldilocks from Great
Britain and the Three Bears a British story
and The White Elephant a folktale from
Asia
Mythology
A collection of myths or stories about a
specific person, culture, religion, or any
group with shared beliefs. Examples of this
are the Roman Myth of Jupiter and the Bee
and the Greek Myth of Daedalus and
Icarus.
Legends
A traditional story or group of stories
told about a particular person or place in
the past The main characters are
usually kings or heroes. Examples are
the tales of Odysseus from Ancient
Greece, Beowulf from the Norse lands
Epics
A long narrative poem that is elevated
and dignified in theme, tone, and style
recounting heroic deeds and
historically important events.
Examples are Mahabharata and
Ramayana in India and Biag ni Lam-
ang Philippines.
Drama
Is the portrayal of fictional or non-
fictional events through the performance
of written dialog. Dramas can be
performed on stage, on film, or the radio.
Examples is the play of Romeo and Juliet
and the movie The Shawshank
Redemption
Fantasy
Genre of literature that features
magical and supernatural elements
that do not exist in the real world.
Examples are The Lion, the Witch and
the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis and The
Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien.
Adventure Stories
A genre of fiction that usually presents
danger, or gives the reader a sense of
excitement; it features a protagonist going
on an adventure of some kind. Some
examples of this are Gulliver's Travels. by
Jonathan Swift and Treasure Island. by
Robert Louis Stevenson
Historical Fiction
A literary genre where the story takes
place in the past. The details and the
action in the story can be a mix of actual
events and ones from the author's
imagination as they fill in the gaps.
Example of this is The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain,
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden.
