Kartilya ng Katipunan in a Life of a Filipino

Kartilya ng katipunan can be treated as the katipunan’s code of conduct. It

contained fourteen rules that instruct the way a katipunero should behave, and which
specific values should he uphold. The rule that are contained in the kartilya can be
classified into: first, rules that will make the member of the katipunan an upright
individual; and the second, rules that will guide the way he treats his fellow men.

The rules listed in the kartilya ng katipunan is the rules which is engage in the
morality of a person. It is stated there how to be a righteous person and how we
should treat others to respect their dignity and respect them as an individual. These
rules are within the cultures and beliefs of Filipinos and therefore depicts what a
good Filipino individual should be. It is not difficult to meet these rules because this
are natural in a Filipino.

I can relate this to myself, as a Filipino youth, in a way of making this as a

guide for me while growing to be a righteous and a good individual. We are not
grown up yet and we will experience more things all throughout our journey to what
goals we are trying to achieve. Achieving those goals will be not easy as there are a
lot of challenges and obstacles in between. But through possessing the abilities that
a good person and a humble person have and having the kartilya as a guide and
God as a centre of everything we can be better and may become the best version or
ourselves.

The kartilya serves like our parents. Our parents are there to guide and taught
us what is good and bad, right or wrong. They are there to support us and be our
strength in our journey. Without the presence of our parents’ teachings, we have the
kartilya to remind us how to be proper and appropriate. The kartilya is very suitable
to us as Filipino youth because these are made by Filipinos and is based on the
cultures and beliefs of a Filipino which is what we are living and believing to.

There are things that may seem very difficult, situations that may give us a
hard time to decide, but we have to remember that we Filipinos are brave and
strong. Be a good person and a righteous one, and everything will fall into place in
the right way and right time.
