1. How can young people rise to the responsibility of leading society,
given the discussion of the nature and goals of the National Service Training Program and the significance of the Philippine Constitution and its provisions? Would you mind sharing your own experiences with how you see yourself influencing your family, friends, and the local community? Nature and goals of the National Service Training Program (NSTP) as discussed is a program which, aims to enhance the civic consciousness and the defense preparedness of the youth through developing their ethics in service and patriotism while they undergo trainings in any of its program components. Hence, the significance of the provisions of the Philippine Constitution and the constitution itself ensures that the powers of the legislative, executive and judicial branches, remains separated; which the 1987 constitution continues to protect and uphold the fundamental rights and freedom of every Filipino. Upon being said, the young people, and even the youth of the current generation and the generations of the upcoming generations will rise to the responsibility of leading the society by knowing their history- the Philippine Constitution and its provision shall help the youth to become a voice of their fellow youth as well as the voice of their fellow citizens. Being able to know history- especially in developing an individual with their ethics in service, and being a patriotic individual does not only help a single individual but can also help its society. As a leader, and a missionary of the church, being a responsible leader entails offering myself to lead, and not just to serve or “to be served”. This means, I, as a leader who offers my “yes” to the calling I answered is also a “yes” to be judged, criticized and misunderstood by the people watching on how I lead. Thus, by all the above-mentioned adjective, as a leader, my “yes” is also a “yes” to become a listener and to be accountable of the circumstances I may face while leading. Through this, I can say that I have influenced my family- through being accountable of making decisions for our household; my friends and the local community- by helping them to be patriotic as well as to being ethical in serving their fellow men and women, which also leads some of the young people to be part of our growing community in church. Many are called to serve the people but only few do it for the sake of its people. As young as we are, and if our hearts belong to serving the people- and the Filipinos, we shall know what responsibilities are we going to carry on our backs sooner or later. Thus, this shall help not only a single individual, but hundreds, and thousands of them and our growing society. Leading does not only carry a title of your name, but hundreds and thousands of people who put their trust on you to be a voice of their unheard cries.
