GRADEMARK REPORT

FINAL GRADE
GENERAL COMMENTS

Instructor

34
Critically evaluate and apply concepts, tools and
techniques of strategic management.

Your exec summary isnt one. This would

summarise the whole report. Yours is instead
more of an abstract.

/100
Your paper would have been better to highlight
the strategy of CEMEX instead you have hinted at it
in different paragraphs. Better to be clear on the
strategy and use this as the foundation for
building the paper.

There is a lack of a structure in the paper and no

highlighting of what are the key points.

M&A clearly an important strategy. I dont need

you to simply report them I want you to analyse
them for fit etc, did they buy the right companies
in the right target markets?

You have used SWOT - This is context driven but

you have not provided this aspect.

Critically analyse and evaluate the relationship

between strategic objectives/intent and
operational/resource planning in terms of
successful strategic implementation

The detail on the financial strength is descriptive,

you are reporting info. We need more analysis.
You have the start of this on p7 'The year 2020' -
this needed to be explored more.

Evaluate the impact of organisation culture,

Politics, stake-holder influence, social
responsibility and ethical issues on strategy
formulation and the strategic decision making
process.

You have highlighted the importance of

innovation but not how it is measured or
prioritised.

The recommendations are very generic. It does

not link clearly back into relevant evidence and
are not assessed using a framework like SAF to
look at suitability, acceptability and feasibility.

Your citation are weak.
