VOM/MULTIMETER

- A multimeter or a multi-tester, also known as a volt/ohm meter or VOM, is an

electronic measuring instrument that combines several measurement functions in one
unit. A typical multimeter may include features such as the ability to measure voltage,
current and resistance.

AC/DC POWER SUPPLY

- Both AC and DC describe types of current flow in a circuit. In direct current (DC),
the electric charge (current) only flows in one direction. Electric charge in alternating
current (AC), on the other hand, changes direction periodically.
FUNCTION/SIGNAL GENERATOR

- A signal generator is piece of test equipment that produces an electrical signal in the
form of a wave. This is used as a stimulus for the item being tested. Signal generators
in all their forms are widely used within test and development systems, being used
with other test instruments
.

OSCILLOSCOPE

- An oscilloscope is a device that allows you to see how voltage changes over time by
displaying a waveform of electronic signals. Electronics such as lights, TVs, air-
conditioning need electrical energy delivered by circuits. A circuit is a path between
two or more points which a current-runs through.

BREAD BOARD

- is a construction base for prototyping of electronics. Originally the word referred to a

literal bread board, a polished piece of wood used when slicing bread.
DIODE

- is a semiconductor device that essentially acts as a one-way switch for current. It

allows current to flow easily in one direction, but severely restricts current from
flowing in the opposite direction; When a diode is reverse-biased, it acts as an
insulator and does not permit current to flow.

RESISTOR

- is a passive two-terminal electrical component that implements electrical resistance as

a circuit element. In electronic circuits, resistors are used to reduce current flow,
adjust signal levels, to divide voltages, bias active elements, and terminate
transmission lines, among other uses.

INDUCTOR

- is a passive electrical component that opposes sudden changes in current. Inductors

are also known as coils or chokes. The electrical symbol for an inductor is L.
CAPACITOR

- is a device that stores electrical energy in an electric field. It is a passive electronic

component with two terminals. The effect of a capacitor is known as capacitance.

TRANSISTOR

- is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and electrical

power; It is composed of semiconductor material usually with at least three terminals
for connection to an external circuit.

SOLID STATE SWITCH

- is a completely electronic device with no moving parts as semiconductors provide the

switching states.
SENSOR

- is a device that measures physical input from its environment and converts it into data
that can be interpreted by either a human or a machine. Most sensors are electronic
(the data is converted into electronic data), but some are simpler, such as a glass
thermometer, which presents visual data.
