SUMMARY OF THE BOOK

This book contains public speaking material which is divided into 5 chapters
is about introduction, the evolution of public speaking, overcoming public
speaking, the components of successful speech, and three public speaking about
the success of a speech. And the reviewer will discuss the fourth chapter
entitled "components of successful speech" of this book to analyze and see the
contents of the chapter.

The fourth chapter discusses that verbal communication can be significantly


more effective in revealing the meaning of messages to the audience. The fourth

various forms pervades today's business environment. With job interviews,
conference calls, meetings, product presentations, workshops, and public
events, more and more leaders are realizing the importance of developing good

explains each component of successful speech based on its understanding and
importance in understanding each component, important points that should be

In this chapter, reviewers understand that a speaker's confidence,


emotional state and attitude is often revealed in the tone of voice. In the area of
public speaking voice becomes a powerful instrument that allows speakers to
engage, charm and encourage the audience to listen. It may mean that people
are more influenced by the sound and quality of an individual's voice than by its
content. Of course, these findings do not imply that the weight of the spoken
words should be ignored or that it diminishes.

How difficult was it to keep speaker focus on what was being said?
Speakers who talk in a tone with no variations, which usually happens when a
public speaker is reading the speech or recalling it verbatim, quickly lose their
audience's attention and even put some of their listeners to sleep. To avoid
people dozing off or daydreaming during speaker presentation speaker have to
learn to control their tone of voice and use it to make speaker speech more
expressive and hypnotizing.

From the results of the analysis that the group did, in this section there are several
advantages shown by the author of the book. In the discussion book the successful public
speaking discusses acquiring confidence before an audience, efficiency through change of pitch,
pause and power, concentration in delivery, the truth about gesture, influencing by argument. In
this book helps readers make the leap from principles to performance, helps readers apply
principles discussed in The text to the creation of their own speeches, This is a good guide book
for readers who wants to increase their skills and capability to speak up in front of many people
in certain occasion. This book not only teach how to public speaking but also give us explanation
about speech and its major parts, also this book explain something that mostly people not think
about when they do public speaking, it is the proper way to selecting topic, realize and
understand the components that can help improve public speaking, learning to use effective body
language and so on.

4.2 SUGGESTION

Public speaking has an important role because it is a way of communication to convey


messages or information in front of an audience or group of people. As prospective educators we
are required to be able to understand the language well and correctly, especially English. through
this book review, the author found some suggestions that can be given both for the contents of
the book and suggestions given to readers later. This book is good and has many benefits for
readers. This book provides a lengthy review of material enough so that the author can provide
suggestions to shorten the discussion in this book and straight to the point. Meanwhile,
suggestions that the author can give to the reader is reading references from some other source in
other words, not encouraged with just one book so they can get explanations from multiple
references
