Dr. Jose Rizal is a prominent figure in the Philippines.

Well, in fact, the National Hero of

the country. Apart from being known as an expert in the field of medicine, a poet, and
an essayist, Rizal exhibited other amazing talents. He knew how to paint, sketch, and
make sculptures (Ronica, Valdeavilla). Indeed, a master of his own league.
However, aside from all the shimmer and shine of his multiple profession, his ability to
see flawed governance — and aptness to dismantle it —makes him remarkable.
Hence, the spark that engender the Filipino's flame of retribution.
He inspires me to believe in the power of words. The power of language. The simple
character that evokes consciousness; trigger guilt.
He inspire me to believe in the power of knowledge. The power of meaningful wisdom.
The accumulation of learnings that brings life.
And he inspire me to believe that no disguised-insurmountable-oppressive regime is
invincible.
Rizal: the symbol of revolution.
Every time I see suppressive authority, it is always like he's telling me, "You'll let that
rule? You'll let that twist law according to his convenience? What a shame!"
In conclusion, his works will be forever be embedded in my heart. Because it wasn't
only his life he sacrifice to the people — his death belongs to the Filipino too.
