Ajin are incredible. And the DM can use this in many ways.

Could be Dues Ex Machina to keep

important characters alive, give the players some extra abilities, or even make an interesting boss to fight.
Ajin are beings of unnatural power. They can die in the normal sense, bit then they pop right back up on
their feet. If you cut off a part of them, then kill them, it comes back whole.
This template graft can be used in many ways, explained in just as many, but you'd be hard pressed to kill
then for any amount of time.
That is why it is up to the DM to add the Ajin graft, and approve of ways to deal with the Ajin.
Some possible ideas to negate the Ajin's reset ability will be presented in this graft.

Traits;
All traits the Ajin have (excluding the ones presented in the graft) come from the base race.
So first you need to choose a race to put the graft on. Physical characteristics, age, and other abilities are
the same as the base race.

All that is added are as follows.

Reset: when an Ajin dies, it can revive with all limbs in tact after 3 rounds at 1st level. You can revive in
2 rounds with the equivalent of a short rest to restore abilities and all limbs in tact starting at 4th level.
This later improves 1 round at 9th level. And later to a long rest equivalent to restore spells and abilities at
13th level.

IBM (invisible black man): at 2nd level, the Ajin gains an IBM. Treat as invisible servant (at will) that are
visible to only Ajin and those it is about to kill. It can be directly controlled by the Ajin to gain
proficiency bonuses on skills and combat. Give it HP equal to half the Ajins total HP, a damage reduction
of 5 to everything but magic and headshots (headshots on an IBM autocrit).
The IBM can be summoned as a move action, and resummoned after it has been destroyed as a full round
action. This decreases to a move action at 5th level.
It first starts with a bludgeoning attack with a damage of 1d8 + your strength mod at 1st level. The
damage increases to 2d8 + str mod at 3rd level and 3d6 + str mod at 6th level, 4d6 + str mod at 9th and
maxes out at 4d8 + str mod at 12th level.
The IBM also has the ability to wield any weapon you have proficiency with, although it’ll just look like a
floating weapon to anyone not an Ajin, or not being assaulted by it.
It’s AC is equal to your own.
The IBM is dismissed when you are rendered unconscious or dead. It remains even when unconscious
starting at level 10, but is still dismissed when dead.

Petrifying Scream: at 3rd level, an Ajin gains the ability to petrify opponents in a 50 foot radius for 2d4
rounds. Allies are also affected for 1d4 rounds.
This can be negated by being deaf, or covering your ears. Covering your ears alleys you to make a con
save of DC 15. You are still petrified if you fail the check.
Flood Phenomenon
Starting at 3rd level, there is a 1 in 20 chance of a “Flood Phenomenon” happening after an emotional
Ajin death. Upon revival, roll a D20, if you get a 20, then you summon 5d4 IBMs that act according to the
emotion upon death, this means the IBMs are under the DM’s control.
Options: pick a few triggers, you only roll when the “triggering” even happens.
The DM can add bonuses to increase chances of this happening, or can make the odds against it
happening greater depending on circumstance.
The DM can also flat put choose if it happens or not without a roll.

The character may not know he is an Ajin, and therefore, may not gain these abilities till he dies for the
first time. Because of this, the DM has full discretion when these abilities improve past 3rd level.
It is possible that the DM may decide whether a character is an Ajin or not without notifying the player
until the character dies for the first time. Alternatively, you can also roll a D% to decide whether or not it
is an Ajin upon the character's first death.

Another thing the DM may do is take out the other 2 abilities that an Ajin has, leaving the reset ability in
order to keep the heart of the graft but making it so it isn't so powerful.

Ways to negate these abilities:

Any poisons made to render a being unconscious, but not kill, still work to the full effect.

If the base race needs air, they can be rendered forever unconscious in an environment that doesn't have
air.
Ex: the bottom of the ocean.
The Ajin will only revive once brought back into an environment that has breathable air.

If you deal more damage during the reset, the reset ability will reset.
Ex. Takes 3 rounds to reset, 2 have passed. The Ajin is hit, so it takes 3 more rounds to reset.

An Ajin still dies of old age.

The following ways are up to DM discretion, and can be expanded.

Make magical items that are capable of killing/capturing Ajin.

A specific illness can kill Ajin.

Story/adventure:
This does present some interesting ideas for a game.
Because Ajin always come back, they have many uses in the fields of science, magical study, medicine,
and much more. This makes them highly valued.
This brings up the idea that maybe all Ajin are being pursued for any number of reasons. They might not
be seen as human, even if the base race is.
So, maybe Ajin are being pursued, captured, contained and tested upon against their will.
So a party that consists of a couple of Ajin could be running away, or hiding.

Alternatively, you could have the setting where Ajin are seen more like beings of power, beings to be
worshiped.

Origin of the Ajin:

This can be explained in a variety of ways.

1 The Gate
The Gate leads to the Nexus, a place that connects all matter and energy. The Nexus is also in some sort
of flux. So staying in there too long could have also brought the abilities of an Ajin into one or more
beings.

2 Magic/science
In some sort of experiment, some scientist or wizard accidentally creates the Ajin. Possible only creating
one or two that pass down their abilities or accidentally turning himself into an Ajin, making him the only
one until he has kids.

3 divine blessing, or demonic curse

For some reason, a divine being, or one of demonic origin, blesses or curses a person of such that he can
only die of old age. Thus creating the Ajin.

This idea just doesn't really have an explanation.
