1. Introduction

The Centre for Digital Transformation does cutting-edge research studying organizational dynamics
related to the development, strategy, and leadership of digital innovations. Using various conceptual
frameworks that integrate theories and developments in strategy, economics, information systems, and
other business disciplines, the centre examines digital transformation, emphasizing a focus on:

 Role of Artificially intelligent (AI) technologies in organizational and societal transformation


 Digital processes, products, platforms, and services
 Digital channels for retail
 Building online marketplaces and IT-enabled disintermediation
 Digitally enabled customer participation for co-creation and co-innovation
 Digital business strategy
 Digital value chain innovations
 Digitally engendered network effects
 Digital architectures and governance models
 Leadership in digital social networks
 Business analytics
 Human emotions and sentiments in the digitized world
 Digitization and transformation of work
 Effects of digitization on jobs, incomes, and wages
 Neuroscientific dynamics underlying customer interactions with technology

The Center for Digital Transformation (CDT) at IIM Ahmedabad is launching the inaugural the
hackathon challenge DT Competition (DTC) 1.0 @ IIMA. The purpose of this hackathon is the
following:

1. How Organizations may build their Artificial Intelligence Capabilities. 

2. Run Experiments that enhance Organization's Understanding of Consumer Choice Behaviors. 

3. Uses Text and Network Analytics to Unravel Social Choices and Build
Organization's Customer Orientation and Customer Response Capabilities.

4. Leverage Web Mining and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to Build Organization's
Intelligence Capabilities. 

This global hackathon will identify entrepreneur leaders in the domain of digital transformation. This
competition is sponsored by leading organizations, such as <Digital India>, <> will be hosted by CDT at
IIM Ahmedabad.

The competition will invite participants from across the globe to explore and share their knowledge and
understanding of the influence of technology on the social well-being and choice behaviors of individuals.
Team size: 3-4.

The participants will be encouraged to leverage the following:

We will provide 5 themes/tracks. Participants will be required to address one of them.

Launch TRBS website on 31st July 2021.

The global challenge will be open for everyone, and will have 2 stages:

Stage 1: 2 liner problem statement & submission of business canvas for the idea. This will be a selection
round. Top 5 ideas will be selected under each track.

Stage 2: This will have 2 steps on-campus round

1. The shortlisted teams will be presenting the idea and prototype/wireframe/no code applications (as
applicable).
2. Top teams from each track (Overall Top Teams) will present for the final round
3. The prize money will be awarded to the Topmost in each of the five categories of the Stage II

3. Launch of the DTC 1.0 @ IIMA

The Red Brick Summit (TRBS) 2021 to officially launched on 1 st Aug 2021 for students, instructors, and
others. The portal is closed and is accessible only by personal invites.

4. Judging Criteria

To identity the next generation of engineers, tech leaders, and change-makers following will be indicative
judging criteria.

Originality

Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem?

Execution

Is the hack usable in its current state? Is the user experience smooth? Does everything appear to work? Is
it well designed?

Usefulness

Is the hack practical? Is it something people would actually use? Does it fulfill a real need people have?

Presentation

How well was the project presented? Did it make the hack more compelling? Did it give a good idea of its
purpose?

Learning

Did the team stretch themselves? Did they try to learn something new? What kind of projects have they
worked on before?

Adherence to Theme
Does the hack adhere to the event's theme? Does it implement that theme fully or just partially?

5. Stage I

The competition invites students from across the globe to explore and share their knowledge and
understanding of the influence of technology on the social well-being and choice behaviors of individuals
from 5th -31st Aug 2021. The participants would be able enroll from the TRBS 2021 website.

Participants can choose a topic of their interest from amongst the following three case scenarios, each of
which provides a wide array of topics related to the domain.

5.1. Emerging Technologies (e.g., Industry 4.0, AR/VR, Immersive


Technologies, Quantum Computing, 3D Printing, Vertical
Farming, LiFi, LiDAR, BIM, Digital Twin, 6G, Autonomous
Vehicles, Drones, etc.):
With onset of Covid-19, the organizations and goverments have new set of expectations from
the technology. Rethink the future of technology and come up with a solution to facilitate
sustainable solution for inclusive growth leveraging AI/ML and Deep Learning.

5.2. Social Inclusion Tech:


The digital India mission has revolutionized the country. However, it has also created a digital
divide, where the poor are unable to avail the benefit of the schemes, due to lack of awareness
and accessibility. Create a solution to bridge this gap and make the government offerings
more accessible leveraging AI/ML, Deep Learning and Neural Network.

5.3. Wellness, Fitness & Health Tech:


A lot of time and money is spent gathering and re-gathering information about a user’s
medical history. Create a solution that can be used as a one-stop-shop for both the patient and
the doctor to access a user’s complete medical profile. It could include his past records, test
reports, previous ailments and so on.

5.4. Retail Tech


The onset of Covid-19 has led to a surge in e-commerce and accelerated digital
transformation is creating a paradigm shift in consumer behaviour towards hyper-
personalized shopping experience for both essential & non-essential categories. This is
altering the ecosystem and made it imperative for businesses across industries to reimagine,
redefine, adapt and deliver a seamless customer experience leading to the emergence of
direct-to-consumer (D2C) distribution channels.

7. 1st Master Class

Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Setia to conduct a webinar for students enrolled for the competition explaining the
participation guidelines and judging criteria. This was followed by a Q&A session with aspirants asking
any questions they may have related to the competition on 22nd Aug 2021.

8. Result of Stage I

Stage I results to declared to be declared between 1 st and 5th Sept 2021.

9. 2nd Master Class

Prof. Pankaj Setia to conduct the second master class on 10 th Sept 2021 explaining the preparation
required to for stage II.

10. Final Submission

Last day for submission of final presentations on 2nd Oct 2021.


11. Special Speaker’s Session

Prof. (Dr.) Pankaj Setia gave a talk to the participants, explaining how to use ‘<Ethical AI>’, at the
TRBS. The talk will be live streamed and to be available on YouTube on 9th Oct 2021.

12. Finalists compete for Stage II at TRBS.
