 Geronimo – Sheppard – Notes

• Notes: This song is the second single released by the Australian band Sheppard in
February 2014. It reached number one on the Australian singles chart. The title of the song
refers to the famous Apache military leader Geronimo, and the custom of yelling his name
before doing a courageous act.

Pre-listening activities
Give each student a folded copy of the worksheet and ask them to do Activity 1. They list the
words according to their final vowel sounds.

Listening activities
1. Ask students to listen for the words in Activity 1, numbering them in the order they hear
them.

2. Play the song.

3. Ask them to unfold the page and complete the lyrics (Activity 2) with the words from

5. Correct in open class, play the song again and sing together!

Language Focus

For Intermediate students the song can be used to revise tenses. In the song there are
examples of Present Simple, Present Continuous, Past Simple, Past Continuous and Present
Perfect.
