What was the design of the study?

Is there congruity between the research methodology and

the research question or objectives? Explain

- Research design: Descriptive

 it explores and describes a phenomenon in real life situation as well as to collect their data
about their study subject without intervening, so the validity of their research will depend
on their sampling method.
- Yes, there is a congruity between the research methodology and research question or objectives
- Research methodology
 What data to collect (and what data to ignore)
o They collected primary data to answer their specific research questions and to control
over the sampling and measurement methods.
 Who to collect it from (in research, this is called “sampling design”)
o they used convenience sampling
o the nurses who worked in COVID areas specifically 15 clinical nurses working in
JPNATC, Emergency wards dedicated for COVID 19 patients
 How to collect it (this is called “data collection methods”)
o they collected their data through face to face interview to gain more in-depth
understanding of their research
 How to analyse it (this is called “data analysis methods”)
o they used thematic analysis to closely examines the data gathered through the
written down copy of the recorded interview to identify common themes – topics,
ideas and patterns of meaning that come up repeatedly.

The researchers used a descriptive research design for their study because it explores and describes a
phenomenon in real life, which is the psychological experiences of nurses posted in COVID care areas, as
well as to collect data about their study subjects, which are the fifteen (15) clinical nurses working in
JPNATC, without imposing. As a result, the validity of their study was dependent on the
sampling method they utilized, which was convenience sampling.

And, yes, there is a congruity between the research methodology and the research questions, as
demonstrated by how they collected primary data to answer their ten (10) particular questions through
a face-to-face interview to obtain a more in-depth knowledge of their study. Because, as I previously
stated, the validity of their study is dependent on the sampling method that they utilized when
implementing a descriptive research design. As a result, they were able to regulate the sampling method
by collecting primary data.

It all connects when they used thematic analysis to thoroughly analyze the data obtained through the
written down copy of the recorded face-to-face interview with the subjects to find
commonalities on thoughts, reactions, and experiences that was mentioned repeatedly.
