Task 2
Directions: Evaluate the digital poster below guided by the poster evaluation process discussed
earlier. After which, make a write-up giving premium on the message being conveyed; visual
features as text styles, color schemes, and images/symbolisms; motivations/ reasons for making
the poster; and, insights derived.

The first thing that is noticeable about the poster is the color and the picture.
The poster’s intended audience are the youth, more specifically, adolescents. The
venue, date and time is included with an additional hook for people to come.
Upon further examination one would understand that the poster is about an event
that aims to educate and spread awareness of early sexual activities. Such reason
is that during the time that this poster was created, cases of teenage pregnancy
significantly increased in 2017, with almost 949 cases recorded. The event can
also be for empowering women or any person in relationship to abstain from early
sex and not be controlled and forced by their partners. Giving highlight towards
having healthy relationships.
Over-all, the poster is acceptable. It is able to give the necessary
information such as the venue and schedule, it has eye-catching features and is
able to convey an understanding on what the event is about. Although in some
aspects, it is quite misleading and has room for improvements. At first glance, one
might assume that the poster is a cheap wedding invitation given with the images
and color used. It is also giving the vibe of couple counseling which is related but
still diverts from its sole purpose.
The color palette used is pleasing to the eye. Pink is a color that is appealing
to the youth and with the addition of red, these gives the idea of love and
relationships. The addition of red also gives an idea of empowerment. The
concerns would be the blue text and the shade of pink that is used. Blue
complements pink such as how it is used in baby showers, but with concern to
what the poster is about, it is better to use change it with black. The shade of the
pink also makes the white text hard to read and it would be better to be darker
or bolder.
Aside from the color, there are cleaner fonts that could’ve been utilized.
The title font doesn’t need to be fancy for it makes the poster feel bridal. The texts
used for the venue, schedule and hashtags also feels off. Simple bold fonts such
as Helvetica for the title and thin or narrow fonts for the date, schedule and
hashtags would make it look cleaner and more professional.
The poster utilizes a photo of a man and woman which can be depicted
as a couple. It is in the shape of a heart which gives the conclusion that the two

Page | 1
are couple. The couple are touching and looking at each other’s hand. The
image helps one understand that the poster is related to relationships. It is hard to
tell what the image is trying to tell regarding relationships and this is something
that hinders the potential of the poster. Images in a poster is suppose to give
impact as to what the poster is trying to inform. If the aim of the poster is to inform
about an event that aims to educate and influence people in abstaining from
early sexual activities, it should have a photo that clearly depicts the situation and
be able to give empowerment. Another image used is two rings that are in the
title. This is used to emphasize commitment and inform that the poster is about
relationships. Though this is somehow unnecessary and only plays a part in making
the poster look bridal.
Over-all, the poster has the potential in in both carrying out it’s message
and purpose while being able to be appealing to its target audience. The main
purpose of the poster is to advertise an event. It gives the message regarding the
rise of teenage pregnancy and adolescents engaging to early sexual activities or
premarital sex, and how some people in relationships are forced or influenced in
committing early or premarital sex. Not only is it necessary to educate young
people about abstaining from early sexual activities but also empowering them
to be able to do so. If such thing is rightly done problem

The K in K-POP
Korean pop or K-pop is a genre that is known throughout the world. From
the first generation until now (fourth generation), K-pop always has its distinct
features that makes it different from other genres of pop music. At the beginning
of the year, a certain girl group, Kaachi, from the UK has debut as a K-pop group
considering that they actually debuted in UK and from a western company. This
brought backlash and gave light to the reoccurring topic regarding non-Asians
and non-Korean entering the K-pop industry. From these topics comes the
questions; What makes K-pop the genre that we know today? What does the K
mean in K-pop? What will K-pop become from this reoccurring topic?

1. The language
Being able to speak Korean is a fundamental element in the K-pop industry.
The main audience of the K-pop industry is the Korean public and that part of
being an artist or idol requires one to interact with their audience, there should be
no reason for one not to be able to fluent with the language.

In regards to the lyrics in songs, it is not always a necessity to be entirely

Korean or to at least have Korean words. Such examples are Like money by
Wonder Girls ft Akon, Dynamite by BTS, The boys by Girls generation, and many
more.
2. The training
K-pop is a music genre but an aspect that people expect from it is the
ability to sing and dance. To be able to perform as a K-pop artist, one undergoes
a training system that takes years.

Page | 4
Such training system is seen controversial by some as it is seen to be too
much for everyone to undergo but the training system itself built the idea of what
K-pop is today; Its distinctive vocals, production, and choreography.
3. Debut in Korea
Debuting as a K-pop artist is different from debuting as an international
artist. The aspect of making a group outside of Korea and claiming it as K-pop is
odd and questionable. Considering that the main audience of the K-pop industry
is the Korean public, this is achieved by promoting and debuting in Korea. If one
doesn’t start in catering towards the Korean audience then as to what aspect
should label them as part of the K-pop Industry.

Though there are K-pop artists that caters more to the global audience
such as Blackpink and 2ne1 of the YG entertainment, these artists still debuted
and started in Korea and grew to be known globally.

The K in K-pop does indeed stand for Korean but it is not Korean people
wherein one should be Korean to be able to enter the industry. Korean by means
of being able to fulfill the Korean aspects such as Korean language, Korean
training and Korean debut.
The future of K-pop

K-pop as of now is evolving to be more global than before where there are
those that are clearly catered to global audience such as Dynamite by BTS.

Changes in K-pop is inevitable but it is expected that there will always be

aspects in K-pop that that will never go away for those are the aspects that
differentiates K-pop from other genre of music.
