Welcome everyone to these course – PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION 8: Assessment

of Learning I. Before letting you do the activity on “getting-to-know you” and “levelling
of expectations”, allow me first to introduce myself briefly. I am Mr. Nestor L. Lasala Jr, a
Graduate of Sorsogon State College batch 2015, with a degree of Bachelor in
Secondary Education-Major in Biology, and recently got my Master’s Degree Program
in Biology Education in Bicol University. And currently pursuing my Doctorate Degree in
the same institution. This is my 2nd year in teaching both in SSC and tertiary education
students. However, I’ve been in this profession for almost six years now, dealing with
diverse students from all walks of life. The said academic preparations and my
teaching experiences provided me the opportunity to handle this professional subject.

Now, in this time of pandemic, we do away with in-person teaching as a

precautionary measure. The current situation has forced us to shift to remote education
as a new normal. In this setup, you will be provided with instructional materials to study
either in the Learning Management System of the College or in other social media
platform which you may prefer to have in order for you to be able to keep up with the
rest of the class. The materials contain activities to monitor how you progress in the
tasks. Thus, as you go over these materials, you are expected to complete the activities
before proceeding to the next task.

I understand that we are learning how to do things for the first time. So, this may
require our patience and determination. Spend time to navigate the Learning
Management System or Google Classroom using your account, should you prefer to
use it as a means to learn in this subject. Whatever is your preference, let us help each
other as we learn together and cope with this new normal.
