CHAPTER I

Introduction
A. Background
In living this life, there are many challenges that must be overcome, faced and
even resolved. It covers competitive challenges in both physical and mental states. It is a
fulfillment of both spiritual and temporal needs. Since we faced globalization, the
competition in this modern era of the needs is getting more rapidly.
It says business is only a fraction of the intention that will be tangible to the
wishes or just a mere fantasy. For that purpose in knowing a successful and satisfactory
business, we need to make observation to a small scale business first and make a report of
it.
The making of this report includes an attempt to know a small scale business
observation that is able to withstand all examinations in the current globalization era. So
far a business can potentially survive, develop, advance and can produce the expected.
This report is intended to make written documents of new ventures being planned
and in process.
It is also expected that this report is a reliable and written based on the fact. All
thing made by human hands are not perfect, for that there is no ivory that is not cracked.
The suggestions and criticisms of this report that we make are very things that will
always build and advance.
The business that we observed is a small business, which is the manufacture of
food business. That is dumpling.
With production factors are relatively cheap and affordable and easily obtainable.
The owner is confident that the initial business has various aspects that can be beneficial,
for individuals and others. Enterprises that move in the field of food business are more
delicious and needed by people.

B. The Purpose
In making observation to a small scale business, we will be able to know:

 Raw material and equipment of the small scale business (dumpling business)

All these purpose is obtained by several questions and proved by some documentation.

Problem
 Too much competitor.
 Raw materials are expensive but the price must be cheap.
 The price of the product must be cheap because the location is in the village.

 Be competitive seller since we have many competitor.
 We make decrease the size of our product, so we still have many profit.
 Make the product looks expensive by an interesting package.

Answer: I am selling dumplings.
3. Why do you sell dumplings?
Answer: Because I have to finance household needs, to pay the school fee, and to
survive life.
4. Where do you sell dumplings?
Answer: We (Rani and her son) sell dumplings in the village.
5. When do you sell dumplings?
Answer: We sell dumplings from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
6. How much he capital you need to make this dumpling business?
Answer: I need Rp.400.000 for the capital.
7. What are the raw materials and equipment you need to make this dumpling
business?
Answer: The raw materials are wheat flour, egg, butter, carrot, spring onion, oil,
salt, garlic, shallot, pepper, instant rice vermicelli noodles, seasoning,
monosodium glutamate, and sauce. The equipment are plastic, plastic
bag, frying pan, knife, gas tube and regulator, spatula, basin, fork,
strainer, pestle and mortar, trade basket, stainless, and dumpling maker.

Answer: Our daily income is Rp.150.000.

Answer: The problems are too much competitor, raw materials are expensive but
the price must be cheap, and the price of the product must be cheap

Answer: The solutions are be competitive seller since we have many competitor,

From the observation, we know that the capital of small scale business (dumpling
business) is about Rp.400.000. The raw materials are wheat flour, egg, butter, carrot, spring
onion, oil, salt, garlic, shallot, pepper, instant rice vermicelli noodles, seasoning,
monosodium glutamate, and sauce. The equipment are plastic, plastic bag, frying pan, knife,
gas tube and regulator, spatula, basin, fork, strainer, pestle and mortar, trade basket, stainless,
and dumpling maker. Daily income of dumpling business is Rp.150.000 and for monthly
income is Rp.4.500.000. The problems of dumpling business are too much competitor, raw
materials are expensive but the price must be cheap, and the price of the product must be
cheap because the location is in the village. The solutions of dumpling business are be
competitive seller since we have many competitor, we make decrease the size of our product,
so we still have many profit, and make the product looks expensive by an interesting
package.
