Select A Pump For Coolant Recirculation In Lathe Machine
Aims/benefits of the micro project
Aim- to study the Coolant pump in machineries for fluid circulation is as under;
All lathe machines; CNC machines
Benefits-
It helps move the coolant from the radiator to all the necessary parts in the
powertrain. By utilizing a controller, it can determine how much coolant circulates
through the engine at given temperature ranges and maintain a target temperature.
Course Outcomes Addresses-
Maintain hydraulic pumps
Proposed of coolant pump -
A coolant pump is a type of pump used to recirculate a coolant, generally a liquid,
that is used to transfer heat away from an engine or other device that generates heat
as a byproduct of producing energy.

1.Introduction
The water pump, often referred to as the coolant pump, circulates liquid coolant
through the radiator and engine cooling system, and is powered by the engine itself.
It ensures that the engine temperature is maintained at a safe level while operating.
If it fails, the engine may overheat, causing serious damage if left unchecked.
Coolant pumps for machine tools application is widely used for cooling of
tools, tips, grinding wheels etc. so as to provide a better finish to the job. The
Coolant pumps helps in rotating the Coolant oil. Different capacities of coolant
pumps are manufactured as per requirement.
2.Coolant Pump
A coolant pump is a type of pump used to recirculate a coolant, generally a liquid,
that is used to transfer heat away from an engine or other device that generates heat
as a byproduct of producing energy.
Common applications of coolant pumps are:
The coolant is pumped around the primary circuit by powerful pumps. These
pumps have a rate of ~100,000 gallons of coolant per minute. After picking up heat
as it passes through the reactor core, the primary coolant transfers heat in a steam
generator to water in a lower pressure secondary circuit, evaporating the secondary
coolant to saturated steam — in most designs 6.2 MPa (60 atm, 900 psia), 275 °C
(530 °F) — for use in the steam turbine. The cooled primary coolant is then
returned to the reactor vessel to be heated again.

• Petrochemicals: Pure or filled bitumen, pitch, diesel oil, crude oil, lube oil
etc.
• Chemicals: Sodium silicate, acids, plastics, mixed chemicals, isocyanates
etc.
• Paint and ink.
• Resins and adhesives.
• Pulp and paper: acid, soap, lye, black liquor, kaolin, lime, latex, sludge etc.
• Food: Chocolate, cacao butter, fillers, sugar, vegetable fats and oils,
molasses, animal food etc.
7.Impulse pumps
Impulse pumps use pressure created by gas (usually air). In some impulse pumps
the gas trapped in the liquid (usually water), is released and accumulated
somewhere in the pump, creating a pressure that can push part of the liquid
upwards.
Conventional impulse pumps include:
8.Hydraulic pumps
Conclusion:
A cooling system employed in an automobile is to maintain the
desired coolant temperature thus ensuring for optimum engine operation.
A coolant pump is a type of pump used to recirculate a coolant, generally a liquid,
that is used to transfer heat away from an engine or other device
Water pumps are great addition to our lives, as they facilitate a great variety of
household, industrial and agricultural tasks. However, the assortment of water
pumps in the market is so versatile and abundant that choosing the
right pump suitable for your needs is challenging.
