I. Course Purpose and Description


History of Architecture is the systematic recording of man’s achievements and progress

in building. Studying Architectural History allows us to gain a better understanding of the

society and culture that they represent. The course will deal with the manifestation of thoughts

from the beginning of civilization to the Byzantine period.

II. Intended Learning Outcome


At the end of the course the students should be able to:
1. Make the students understand the evolution of architecture from the Pre-Historic times of

Byzantine Period.

2. Distinguish a particular architectural style from another.

3. Make a comparative analysis of architectural styles during the period covered.

III. Course Outline


This course will cover the following topics as follows to achieve all the learning outcomes
discussed above:

IV. Course Materials


Bataan Heroes College (BHC) utilizes course pack for the delivery of its course. All learning
materials including this course guide, study guides, experiment guides, and assessment guides
will be available on the Learning Management Systems (LMS) – Google Classroom. The
corresponding classroom code will be posted.

VI. Class Policies and Procedures

A. Learning Management System (LMS)- Google Classroom


1. Upon registration, all students are required to enroll on the google classroom.
The corresponding classroom code will be posted.
2. All learning materials (study guides, experiment guides, assessment guides,
quizzes, exams, and additional resources) will be posted on LMS.
3. All requirements should be submitted on time through LMS.
4. Sharing of any resources to non-BHC students are strictly prohibited. Please
refer to Appendix IV: Social Media Policy of the Bataan Heroes College
Manual Rev 2020.

B. Synchronous Discussions
1. Students are encouraged to attend and participate all synchronous discussions
conducted through Google meet. In case you cannot attend several times due to
valid reasons, you should inform your instructor as soon as possible.
2. All synchronous discussions will be recorded and will be posted in the LMS for
students’ reference. Students who participated will be informed prior to the
recording of the discussion.
3. Proper netiquette must be followed during synchronous discussions as stated in
Appendix IV: Social Media Policy of the Bataan Heroes College Manual Rev
2020.

C. Consultation
1. After every synchronous class you can always ask your concerns for immediate
response but be mindful when asking questions to follow proper etiquettes. 2.
Consultation hours given by your instructor should be followed. You can send your
instructor a private message or private comment in LMS at any time of your
convenience, however patience should be observed while waiting for their
responses.
D. General Policies
1. Any form of cheating will not be tolerated and will be sanctioned in accordance
with Chapter 6 of the Bataan Heroes College Manual Rev 2020.
2. Execution and submission of all the requirements of this course must be done in
compliance with the school and government policies (IATF protocols and local
policies).
3. Data privacy of all students will be honored in this course; thus, posting of
personal information without the student’s consent will not be tolerated as
indicated to Appendix III: Data Privacy and Safety Policy of the Bataan Heroes
College Manual Rev 2020.

VII. Course Requirements and Activities

To be able to gauge your understanding and learnings from this course, the following
requirements and activities are expected from you.
1. Activities and plates. Activities are done in individual. For individual activities,
it is expected that you will produce your own work and will not copy other
student’s output
2. Quizzes and Major Examinations. All quizzes and major examinations will be
done individually. For major examinations, students are required to submit a
copy of examination permit issued by the Assessment Office.

The table below shows the breakdown for your final grade.

IX. Grading System


Students must obtain at least 75% (3.00) to be able to pass this course. Number
grade system is used for recording grades. The table below shows the percentage
equivalent of the number grades.
