The idea of sweatshops makes me very angry. There’s nothing good

about them. Very young children have to work in
horrible/terrible/horrendous factories that are bad for their
health. They eat and sleep at the factories. Their
employers/bosses/owners make them work up to 18/16/14
hours a day and sometimes beat/bit/bite them. Not just children,
poor people too. The factory owners get rich because of the near
slave-labour conditions. The worst thing about sweatshops is that lots
of multinational companies buy the clothes and shoes made by the
children. Companies like Gap and Nike have been in the
newspapers/news/news shows for exploiting children in
sweatshops. I think these companies have a big responsibility to
make sure their goods do not come from sweatshops.

II)Reading
Most children help with the work in their homes. They do things like washing
the clothes, shopping and looking after very young children. In small
families and big families, children have to do their share of work. This is
important because it teaches useful skills at a young age. However, there is
a big difference between normal family duties and giving children so much
work that they can´t go to school and have little rest or time to play.
Unfortunately, this happens in many parts of the world. Children do many
kinds of paid work. For example, they may work on coffee or tea
plantations, in mines or factories, or even on the street. Child labour causes
many problems. Children work long and hard hours for very little pay. Also,
because they do no to go to school they are often illiterate, that means they
can´t get a better job in the future. But there are people taking action.

Craig Kielburger, born December 17, 1982 in Thornhill, Canada where he

lives is a Canadian human rights activist and founder of Free the Children, a
human-rights organization run by kids. He formed it in 1994 at the age of 12
after reading about a former child slave in Pakistan who was killed for
speaking about abusive child labour. He raised nearly $1 million for his
projects, He started programs to edúcate and give housing to child laborers
in India. He wrote the book Free the Children, with the Money made from
the sales he provided por families with materials that will help earn money,
so their children don´t have to work. Now, Free the Children is the world´s
largest network of children helping other children through education.
Besides, Craig meets with world leaders to speak for those who have no
voice. “Youth should have a voice at all levels of goverments”, he says. “If
young people don´t believe in it and challenge themselves, no one will”
