I. OBJECTIVES
The learners demonstrate the understanding of ways of
A. Content Standard shorting materials and describing them as solid, liquid or gas
based on observable properties
B. Performance Standard The learners should be to group common objects found at
home and in school according to solids, liquids and gas,
The learners should be able to classify objects and materials
C. Learning Competency as solid, liquid, and gas based on some observable
characteristics. (S3MT-lc-d-2)
The learners should be able to classify liquid based on some
1. Unpacked Competency observable characteristics such as color, size, shape, and
texture and weight.
II. SUBJECT MATTER
A. Topic: Characteristics of Liquid
Liquid a substance that flows freely but is of constant volume
B. Science Ideas having a consistency like water or oil
Liquid a state of matter that keeps it’s size but takes the
shape of its container.
C. Science Processes Observing, identifying, classifying,

III. LEARNING ACTIVITIES
A. Engage
Let the pupils read the following words on the flash cards.
1. Drill Liquid Shape Size
Volume Texture Weight
Show pictures of Liquids and let them say if it’s a liquid or
non-liquid. Clap two times if it’s liquid and clap once if it’s
non-liquid.
Gasoline Blood. Milk
Water Ballpen Cellphone
B. Explore
Play “Bring Me” group the class into three groups. Grouping
depends on their respective sets. Give each group pictures of
different kinds of Liquid, solid and gas. Let them choose and
1. Motivation present it to the class what they choose and explain why.
Present to the class that liquid can classified according to
2. Presentation shape
Divide the class into 5 groups. Let them assign the leader, asst.
Leader and secretary.
Give them instructions. Write as many as you can of different
samples of liquid and their characteristics and explain why.
Worksheet will be given to each group.
Remind them also of the standards in performing group activity. Let
them recall the acronyms GROUPS.
Get along
3. Pre-Activity Respect others

Use quiet voices
Participate
Stay in your group
Distribute the worksheet. Tell the students that need to accomplish
it within 3 minutes. And they will present it to the class.

4. Activity Proper
C. Explain
After all groups have done their activity. Ask the leader to get
1. Group Reporting one example of an actual liquid and explain the
characteristics. Let them choose with the actual liquids you
brought.
2. Discussion Ask the other groups if they agree to the presenter’s
observation. Ask also of the other observation which was not
mentioned by the reporters.
D. Elaborate
1. Generalization Ask the class: What are some of the observable
characteristics of liquids?
Note: The teacher may make a concept map on the board to
summarize the characteristics of liquids.
2. Application Tell your student to roam around the schools vicinity and list
down liquids with same characteristics.
Instruct them to write a simple sentences about their
understanding of liquids.
E. Evaluate
IV. Assignment List down at least 5 liquids found in your home and record
their characteristics.
