EDUC 605
FINAL EXAMINATION
(School Administration and Supervision)

Name: PRINCESS NICOLE LUGTU Course: MaEd-Admin & Sup

Date: AUGUST 29, 2021 Score: __________

1. Why is School Administration and Supervision important?

 School Administration and Supervision is important for they both deliver and improve the
education’s efficient function in the whole school system. Administration and Supervision
are regarded as total processes inclusive of all responsibilities and functions necessary for
running the schools.

2. How is School Administration and Supervision interrelated?

 School Administration and Supervision are interrelated to each other in a way that they both
share some common features and goals. Both tries to deliver and improve the education in
general with the best outcomes and its effectivity. They are also considered as functionally
cannot be separated a set off from each other. The two are coordinate, co-relative,
complementary, mutually shared functions in the operation of educational system.

3. Elucidate the importance of School Improvement Plan (SIP)?

 The importance of School Improvement Plan is to ensure the school’s vision, mission and
goals are being met and achieved since it serves as the road map that sets out the changes of
a school needs and to improve the quality of education. It includes the positive
improvement results; meaningful teamwork; and the unity between the school and the
stakeholders because we all know that SIP is not just for the school’s progress but as well as
for what’s best for the students-learning progress.

4. Explain the strategies in the performance of a principal’s instructional leadership role.

 Instructional leadership skills are the traits possessed by effective educational leaders or the
school principals to inspire action and optimism. These leaders set as an example for others
by treating people fairly and making an impression with their honesty and integrity. It aims
to improve student learning and teacher effectiveness.

 Here are some specific strategies that includes:

 Communication skills- Verbal and written communication skills are essential

to leadership success. An instructional leader must be able to effectively
communicate their intentions regarding students’ education. This may involve
emails and other written communication, or it could mean holding meetings
with teachers to set goals and assess lesson plans.
 Effective Planning- a principal may adopt new technology for teaching tools
and for overseeing staff initiatives, and this process requires planning. She/He
must be able to maintain balance between procedure and adaptability to
support creativity and innovative teaching in their schools.

 Trustworthiness- A positive and fair leader easily earns the trust of their staff,
allowing the staff to look to the leader in good times as well as in challenging
times. She/he must remain calm and fair during discussion where people
present opposing ideas, weighing the merits and drawbacks of each while
gathering feedback from other members of staff who would be affected by any
changes in plans. Must also imposed a balanced judgement that will lead the
teachers to trust and respect them and this trust helps build a united
educational community.

 Competence- Principals are expected to be a visible representation of

positivity and transparency in the institution, leading by example and focusing
on important learning objectives to promote innovations in teaching.

 Interaction with Parents- School Principal recognize the importance of parent’s

role in the success of their child and the successive effect of the school. To get
parents excited about participating in these events, principals sometimes
choose to host workshops or meetings so that parents can be familiar with each
other as well as with teachers and school policies. It also provides them with
opportunities to offer their input and ideas to improve the learning
environment for their children.

 Optimism- Teachers and learners often adopt the temper/attitude of their

leader, so an instructional leader must maintain positive attitude regardless of
their current situation. The more cheerful and excited a leader is, the more this
attitude spreads to teachers and learners, creating an overall environment of
positivity.

5. In your own idea, what do you believe are the main challenges that school administrators are
currently facing?

 For me, the main challenges that a school administrator are currently facing are the
following:

 The learners learning-retention amidst this pandemic for all we know, nothing
compares to a real setting classroom were teachers and learners are present
together inside the room exchanging ideas, the response and interactions
between the teacher and learner rather than this modular and other mode of
modalities.

 Access for Students especially for those areas that has no signal where I could
relate on this it is only the radio, posters to keep them in track with any events
(just like Brigada Eskwela posters, Starting of School year etc.) and the drop
boxes that enables me and my co-teachers to reach with the parents/students.

 Effective communication

 Social and Emotional Issues for Learners, Teachers, and Staff

 The Implementation of blended and distance learning

 Prioritizing Mental Health support

6. Explain the functions and its importance of school grievance committee.

 Maintaining quality of work life for its employees is an important concern for any
organization. The grievance handling procedure of the organization can affect the
harmonious environment of the organization. Effective grievance handling is an essential
part of cultivating good employee relations and running a fair, successful, and productive
workplace. It encourages employees to raise concerns without fear of reprisal. It provides a
fair and speedy means of dealing with complaints. It prevents minor disagreement
developing into more serious disputes. Care should be taken in the way managers
approaches the problem and perceiving the pros and cons of the situation. The conflict
management approaches include the win-win strategy that help in the healthy organizational
practices, and which reflects the strong organizational culture.

7. In a school organization, why do parents’ involvement and community partnership important?

 It is very important considering that they are part of stakeholders. Their involvement in
school is associated with improvements of their children’s’ academic achievement,
improved quality of school programs (example in School Feeding their presence is highly
needed for they are the ones who prepare and serve the food for the SBF beneficiaries),
higher attendance rates and as well as improves student behavior and school discipline.
Overall, their involvement in school organization is beneficial and very rewarding to see the
beauty between teacher-parent-community working together for the success of the school.

8. Explain the responsibilities of the school heads based on RA 9155?

 It states on RA 9155 that a school head has an authority, accountability, and

responsibility to lead the national educational policies, plans and standards.
 Since the Principal leads the school, He/she is empowered and has an authority to make
decisions that would result in the achievement and efficiency of the school. It also means
that He/she is accountable for all actions that would happen in school. The role of a school
head is not an easy task but with the help of the different leadership trainings to school heads
given by the DepEd to ensure that they will be fully functional to their duties and
responsibilities. And more so, to enhance their school instructional supervision and
monitoring skills.
