Conditional Statement Equivalence
Republic Act 8293, section 176 states that: No copyright shall subsist in any work of the Government
of the Philippines. However, prior approval of the government agency or office wherein the work is created
shall be necessary for exploitation of such work for profit. Such agency or office may, among other things,

Conditional Statement Equivalence
What ‘s In
Activity 1 : A RECALL
4) Belle lives in a congested and swampy area, then she can be infected with
dengue.
5) Two angles are congruent if and only if they have equal measures
2
Activity 2: REWRITE ME
Example :
Converse : __________________________________________.
Inverse : __________________________________________ .
Contrapositive : ________________________________________.
What’s New
Activity 3 : CLASSIFY ME
3
What is it
Conditional statements are formed by negating both the hypothesis and the conclusion of
the conditional and interchanging their positions. The contrapositive statement of the conditional takes
the form ̴ ̴ q→ ̴ ̴ p, and is read as “if not q, then not p.”
In symbol:
Statement If p , then q
For example :
Given the converse of a conditional statement, you can convert it to its inverse by simply
switching the “then and if “ part and negating both.
1) Converse: If 3 – 1 = 1 – 3 , then a + b = b + a
Inverse : If a + b ≠ b + a , then 3 – 1 ≠ 1 – 3 .
4
What ‘s More
Activity 4 : NOT ME!
1) If you are in Dipolog City, then you are in the province of Zamboanga del Norte.
____________________________________________________________.
2) I’ll bring an umbrella if it rains tomorrow.
____________________________________________________________.
3) If two angles are congruent , then they have the same measure.
_____________________________________________________________.
4) If a number ends in either o or 5 , then it is divisible by 5.
_____________________________________________________________.
5) If you are in love, then you are inspired.
_____________________________________________________________.
2) Converse : _______________________________________________.
Inverse : If a number is not an integer , then it is not a whole number.
3) Converse : ____________________________________.
Inverse : If you don’t drink milk, then you won’t grow
4) Converse : ________________________________________.
Inverse : If 4x – 1 is not equal to 11, then x is not equal to three.

What I Have Learned
DIY Math
Directions: Create a worksheet for practice how to write the converse,
inverse, and contrapositive of a conditional statement.
Provide at least five items on your worksheet. Make sure all
statements are valid.
What I Can Do
6
Assessment:
Direction: Choose the letter of the correct answer.
1) A statement in which you have to negate both the hypothesis and conclusion
A. Conditional C. Inverse
D. Converse D. contrapositive
A. Contrapositive C. Inverse
B. Converse D. conditional
3) By negating both and switch the hypothesis and conclusion, you can formed the
_____________ statement.
A. Converse C. conditional
B. Inverse D. contrapositive
4) The contrapositive of the conditional statement “If there is no Covid-19 vaccine, then
,there is no face-to-face classes.”
5) The converse of the inverse statement “ If a person has no face mask , then he can not
enter “.
6) Which of the statement swapped the roles of the hypothesis and conclusion of the
original conditional statement.
7) If the inverse of the conditional statement is “If a figure is not a circle, then it is a polygon
“ , what is it’s converse form?
8) The statements; If m<A + m<B = 90⁰, then <A and <B are complementary” and “If <A
and <B are not complementary, then m<A + m<B ≠ 90⁰ , are equivalence of
9) The statements, “ If <b is an acute angle, then m<B = 50 “ and “If m<B ≠ 50, then <B is
not an acute angle “ are _______
10) Which of the statement indicates the switching and negating both the hypothesis and
conclusion of the conditional statement
a)Contrapositive
b)Inverse
c)Converse
d) If – then form
