Good day! Our lesson for today is how to present our gathered data aside from using tables. Consider the following
situation.
You open a local magazine and read an article about the 7 lakes of San Pablo City.
Read the following article and try to answer the questions that follow.
The seven lakes of San Pablo City are being developed to become tourist
destinations. The depths and the surface areas are as follows:
Sampaloc (99.21ha;27 m), Calibato (27.18 ha;135m), Bunot (38.16 ha; 23m),
Mohicap (20.49ha;27m), Palakpakin (54.39ha;7.5m), Pandin 23.54 ha;;6.3m),
Yambo (36ha;40m)
With the 2 questions above, were you able to find the answers in the article? It
took you how many minutes to answer them? Did you find it difficult to find the answers from the article?
You may have probably found the answers with difficulty. Thus, we need to look for ways to present these data in
such a way that it is easier for the reader or viewer to analyze and interpret them.
Cookery Electronics
The given frequency distribution can be presented using Graph. It is a pictorial representation of statistical data. This is
used to represent a set of data to make it easier to understand and easily interpret statistical information. There are two
diagrams with which you may present your frequency distribution – using a bar graph or a pie chart.
Bar Graph
A bar graph is a representation that uses bars or rectangles that show the frequency of each category. Comparison
among frequencies can be easily done by looking at the respective heights of the bars. Gaps between bars are spaced
equally.

Pie Chart
A pie chart is a circular diagram that shows the proportion of each category. Each proportion is usually labeled by
either percent or a fraction. The slices in a pie chart are known as sectors.

x100 = 34% 34% of 360° = 0.34 x 360° = 122.4°

x100 = 18% 18% of 360° = 0.18 x 360° = 64.8°

Nail care 54 54
x100 = 27% 27% of 360° = 0.27x 360° = 97.2°

TOTAL 200
With the aid of a protractor and compass, you can construct the circle and sectors needed. Lastly, label each sector with
their corresponding observation and percentage.
LINE GRAPH
A line graph is an illustration that shows the association between the independent variable (on the horizontal axis) and
the dependent variable (on the vertical axis). The association can be either an increasing or decreasing trend. Line graph
is useful in presenting data that indicate changes over a period of time.
Consider the following situations and their data set.
A Science teacher would like to study how the temperature changes within a day. Thus, he recorded the
temperature readings after every hour. Below was his record.
Using a line graph, you can easily see between what time of the
day the temperature is inclining, declining or retained. Let the
horizontal line be the time reading while the vertical line be the
temperature reading.
