C. The relation between a Bus Driver to his/her Passengers.

D. the Relation between a switch and it’s corresponding light.

Instruction: Provide 5 relations in real life and Identify if it is a FUNCTION or NOT A FUNCTION
Example: Mango tree to Mango fruits – NOT A FUNCTION, because 1 tree can have a lot of fruits
Student to LRN - FUNCTION, because a student can only have one (1) LRN

MODULE 4: Solving Real- Life Problems Involving Functions

1. A commuter pays ₱ 8.00 for a tricycle fare for the first 5 km and an additional ₱ 1.25 for
every succeeding distance d in kilometer. Represent the situation as function (3 points).
How much is your fare if your travel in tricycle was 4 km?( 1 point)
How about if it is 15 km? ( 1 point)

2. CASURECO bills their consumers per kilowatt of electricity they consumed. The rate is
₱ 9.50 per KW for meter that consumed less than 100 KW, and a surcharge of ₱ 0.25 for
every Kilowatt ( meaning ₱ 0.25 is added to the existing rate per KW) that exceeds 100 KW.
Represent the rate as a function (2 points). If you meter reading for this month 733 while
in the previous month was 605, How much is your current bill?(2 points)
If a household only consumed 50 KW, how much is their electric bill?(1 point)
