REFLECTION PAPER
FIRST WEBINAR: Are the Gen Z’s Ready for Work? Determining Career Optimism of The
Next Generation”

Based on the webinar session I watched, it was said that there are determinants of career
optimism where, greater satisfaction with overall quality of classroom instruction meaning with
the help of the teachers it is associated with greater career optimism but that was during the
year 2015. As with the year 2020, regardless of the degree of satisfaction the students who had
opportunities to interact with their teachers shows grater career optimism compared to those
who did not have the same opportunities of having interaction with the teachers especially
during this situation where everyone is in remote learning set up. But, on the other hand, there
are a heightened contextual barrier that are linked with lower career optimism where there is a
major concern regarding the financing of the college students have a lower career optimism not
like the students with different concern. It was also said where I think it is factual that career
knowledge is associated with greater career optimism, where the students that are strongly
aware of job opportunities after finishing college have displayed a greater career optimism. Also
if their source of career information is from family or friends or seminars have grater career
optimism compared to those who do not use this kinds of information.
SECOND WEBINAR: Mula Laot Hanggang Pampang: Ang Mangingisda Ng Nusugbu,
Batangas Sa Panahon Ng Pandemya.

nila pang hanap buhay.
silang magagawa kundi magdagat at mangisda.
alwan.
THIRD WEBINAR: Issues Surrounding Language, Gender and Power in our Society

Based on the webinar, it was explained that sex is what we are born with, a female is born with
vagina while male is born with penis. Gender is not what we are born with but something what a
person would do or perform. These are gender performances that are available for everybody.
The example that was stated by the speaker was when girls copy their mothers and boys copy
their fathers. But these gender performances are available for everybody. Society constricts on
who can perform these performances. In developing desire, not only desiring the opposite sex
but also molding oneself, this is not only for the females, but it also applies for males. We see
females as a delicate person and on the other hand the males are strong and big so they can
protect the female. Gender development does not stop but it continues to develop as we grow
older. As there are said jobs for females and males, we become those stereotypes because
they are already expected. The examples the speaker stated was for females there are
teachers, secretary, nurse, social worker and for males there are lawyers, policeman, engineer.
It was said in the webinar which I though is a nice way to explain and educate everyone is
“gender is not something we have but something we do”.
