Mid Term Assignment

Answer any 2 questions from the following

2. Plan an activity based lesson on any one of the following subjects:

Answer- Lesson plan for young learners- (Pre-primary) lesson

Name of the Teacher : Date :
Purnima Swain 29/06/2021

Age Group : 4-5 years Number of Students : 24

Name of the Activity : The parts of the Material(s) used:

Human body 1> medium sized doll/body parts
chart/human body parts wooden
board
2> Flashcards and Worksheets
3> A video link to the song- “ Head,
shoulders, knees and toes”
4> A power point presentation of
song or story
How is it going to benefit the child:
In this lesson students practice naming different parts of the
human body. Students play fun games (Simon says), do lots of energetic
activities, sing a song, do a worksheet and read a story.
1> Introduction to the human body by showing them a little doll to attract
their attention.
2> Prepared flash cards of the body parts can use in the song.
3> Children able to identify their body parts with the help of a video link to
the song that is a fun way of learning.
4> Recapitulation with the help of a power point presentation.
Presentation:
1> The teacher can get a fair understanding of the awareness that the class
has, about the parts of human body by showing them a cute medium sized
doll and pointing to the eyes first and asking them to name of the body
parts.
For example- teacher: pointing to the eyes of the
doll, “what is this children?”
Kids: “Eyes”
Then the teacher point to the head of the doll “what is this children?”
Kids: “Head”
Similarly, the teacher now points to the rest of the body parts and wait for
them to answer again. The whole process of showing a doll will get these
little ones attracted to the subject and also helps the shy children in the
class to interact as it is a fun way to get them involved.
2> Get everyone sitting on the floor and facing the front of the class. Give out
body flashcards so that each student has at least one card. Shout out a
random flashcard word like “Nose” with an action. All kids with the Nose
flashcards have to do the action. Continue with the other words and
different actions.

3> Next teacher will ask the kids to stand up as they are going to sing a song
and also ask them to point to their body parts while singing. The song
“Head, shoulders, knees and toes” will be played and the children sing
along. This is a fun way of learning as it involves audio-visual method of
learning.
Recapitulation:
The teacher will now inform the kids that they are going to watch a video. She
will make it more interesting for the kids by asking them question “kids are you
ready to watch the video?” and the kids answer with a loud voice “yes mam”.
The teacher will now show the power point presentation and notice the kids
answer the questions very confidently as they are now familiar with the topic.
Doing the gestures with this song is a must! They are very simple and the kids
will pick them up really quickly as they follow teacher.

Note- The power point presentation can be showed for the story too if there is
still some time left or next day.

3. Discuss whether there is any specific rule for managing a class of

learners aged between 4 years to 5 years. Give reasons for your answer or
qualify with examples. (250 to 300 words)

A> Classroom management is a term teachers use to describe the process of

ensuring that classroom lessons runs smoothly without disruptive behavior
from students compromising the delivery of instruction. Classroom
management for a pre-school is crucial
because it supports the proper execution of curriculum development,
developing best teaching practices and putting them into action. Once a
teacher loses control of their classroom, it becomes increasingly more
difficult for them to regain that control. From the student’s perspective,
effective classroom management involves clear communication of
behavioral and academic expectation as well as cooperative learning
environment.
Proper classroom management rule creates an ideal
environment for learning. This is important for teacher and student’s
safety, happiness and productivity. This rule will help prevent teacher
burnout and reduce the need for yelling, scolding or other stressful
discipline methods that cause friction between teacher and student’s.
This kind of environment enhances learning as well as social/emotional
development.
STUDENT ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES
1> Greet students at the door- Take time to stand at the door and greet
them formally as they enter. This simple change will make a world of
difference in immediately impacting in classroom culture.
2> Hold morning meetings regularly- Build a climate of trust. Help
students feel significant. Encourage collaboration, create empathy.
Support social and emotional learning.
3> Schedule Opportunities for communication between classmates- Find
natural places in teacher instruction to include daily opportunities for
students to communicate authentically. Predetermine set times
throughout in lesson plans for students to share and reflect on their
thoughts, ideas and opinions. Also consider creating regular moments
when the class can work together to solve current classroom issues or
discuss ways to improve their personal character development.
4> Take time to just fun- Focus on fun activities that encourage a sense
of teamwork. Provide activities that allow students to succeed and fail
together in order to collaborate. Solve problems or practice
sportsmanship. Teaching students lessons of trust and collaboration
through fun and games will be sure to boost classroom climate.

CONCLUSION- I believe the most important part of classroom

management is not the behavior problems but creating good rapport with
the students, encouraging them to succeed. As well as using an engaging
curriculum.
