My interpreter Mission Statement

I am an interpreter of the highest virtue and trustworthiness. I know what is right and what is

wrong. I believe the Code of Professional Conduct protects me as an interpreter as well as

protects the deaf and non-deaf people involved. I will use the CPC to lead the decisions that I

make.

I consistently work on improving my ASL skills. Enhancing my comprehension about ASL, Deaf

culture, American culture, and the Deaf Community.  So, I can strive to be the best interpreter

that I can be. I want to provide the best service I can, I will constantly learn and build on my

skills to make them better.

I have a deep sense of care for the deaf community therefore I will be an ally to them. I will fight

against misconceptions; I will help promote advocacy and try to empower the deaf community.

I understand that as an interpreter I will make mistakes; If I make a mistake, I will accept

responsibility and try to learn from it so I can become a better person and interpreter as a

result.

I am a great interpreter. I will be a great interpreter day after day. I can say this because I have

virtue and trustworthiness. I continue to Enhance my skills, I am willing to take responsibility

for my mistakes, and to continuously work hard every day to become the greatest that I can be.
