ENGAGEMENT:
“Which of you have a job?” followed by “Do you want to stay at that job, or do you want to do something else once you
graduate?”
If they do not have a job, ask them what their dream job is. This may take extra prompting and helping them explore their
options.
Ask them what they would need to do to get a job, such as how to apply, how to act in an interview, and how to explore their
options online.
Assessment: Students will have an open class discussion that they must participate in.
EXPLORATION:
Have the students research their career goals. They can go on Indeed.com and search by keyword for the county. If they do not
know, they can browse current available jobs and look for something they would be interest in. After they find a job that they
like, they will open the job description and read the requirements and duties. Have students look to see if a resume is
required.
Assessment: Assess the student’s ability to navigate the internet to get to Indeed.com and use the keyword search.
EXPLANATION:
We will go over the process of looking for a job, finding a desirable job, applying, interviewing, and onboarding. We will focus
on key words such as hourly-wage, salary, requirements, expectations, and onboarding. Students will be asked how they can
ensure they have the right information on a resume for their job. Explain the importance of having a resume that outlines their
job skills, education, strengths, and career goals. I will show them a copy of my resume as an example and tell them how what I
have in my resume applies to my career goals as an aspiring teacher.
Assessment: Check for understanding while students are answering the question sin the explanation stage.
ELABORATION:
I will guide the students to Microsoft word where they can choose a resume template or create their ow from scratch. This will
be heavily guided and assisted. I will have the criteria they need to put on their resume on the board for reference. I will allow
them to put me as one of their references on their resume. Students can create a resume that matches their personality and
may make it as elaborate as they wish.

Assessment: Assess student ability while creating the resume and look for completion of all the required criteria posted on the
board.
