1. Determine the internal normal force, shear force and bending moment at point C in
the beam. Dimensions H and L are in meter.

2. Determine the internal normal force, shear force, and bending moment at point C in
the beam.

3. The cable will fail when subjected to a tension of F kN. Determine the largest vertical
load P the frame will support and calculate the internal normal force, shear force, and
moment at the cross section through point C for this loading. Radius of roller is R (m).

4. A W N force is required to operate a foot pedal as shown below: Determine the force
in the connecting link and the force exerted by the lever on the bearing at O. Neglect
the weight of the lever. The dimension L 1 and L2 are given in m.

5. In the structure as shown below the member AB is very rigid on comparison to BC.
Find out the vertical deflection at B when a load of ‘W’ N is supported at B. It is
known that when the ‘W’ N load is supported entirely by BC as shown in Figure (b)
the deflection at B is δ mm. The length L is provided in m and n is a positive
quantity.

6. The mast AD is acted by a W kN force and supported by cables CE and DF as
shown. Find the reaction force exerted on the mast by the frictionless ball and socket
joint at A and also the tensions in the cables CE and DF. The dimension H is in m.
