EXECUTIVE SUMARRY

The summer project is the research-work done in the topic, “Impacts of junk foods on
health of students”. Junk foods are such fast-food items which contain high level of
calories due to excess sugar or fat with little protein, vitamins, minerals and fibers. These
junk foods usually don’t possess immediate health concerns when balanced by other
diets. Junk foods are understood to have slow reactions that are harmful to one’s health
in long run.
The attachment of such junk foods with the youngsters‟ food habit is really strong. They
are the most regular consumer in the fast foods industry. They consume such foods
frequently. The main purpose of this project is to know if the young generations are
aware of the health hazards of consuming junk foods. Many may know about it and few
mayn’t be properly aware. I believe that the project will count effective to make young
consumers aware of such health hazards that may occur in long and short run. It is really
important to understand that the awareness about healthy foods can change their food
habit and their perception about
such fast foods.
Health problems can be of different types and seriousness. People are experiencing
various problems due to the consumption of junk foods. Such problems are immediate
and sometimes are seen only in the long run. Precaution in food habits need to be
changed in other to remain healthy for long time. Many problems are caused only due to
the regular consumption of unhygienic foods. Many youngsters are chronic to the
addiction of junk foods.
For the project the youngsters are the college level students taken as the respondents in
the questionnaire-based survey which is done in the second half of the project. Mainly
the research circles around the food habits and the impacts on one’s health due to the
consumption of such fast foods. Today, many young people are facing various kinds of
problems due to their unhealthy food habit, which is just sad. Even after being educated,
the students of Koteshwor are found to have experienced health problems. Most of them
are aware of the health impacts of such foods, even then they are the victims of the
trending fast foods.
Also, we can see that there are various reasons for the inclination of youngsters towards
junk foods. People consider the taste, easy availability of such foods and many such
reasons for consuming such foods regularly. Many of them are also influenced by the
food habits in their family. Family members, especially parents and guardians need to be
conscious about the overall health of the family as one’s food habit can influence the
overall patter of eating.
Besides, there can be various other aspects to be understood while examining the health
impacts of junk foods, especially among the young generation. The project is based on
research done to understand such impacts of junk foods. It will definitely add value
regarding healthy food consuming habit among the young generation.
Health is the greatest wealth. One must be conscious and careful about the health, which
is highly related to the foods one consumes.
