I. Rationale
As we all know, most of the learners in any places of our country belong to poor families and
have greater possibility of dropping out in their basic education because of hunger and
malnutrition. Unfortunately, sacrificing their education and helping their parents just to earn a
living is their only option. Furthermore, the health and nutrition of the learners are crucial factor
affecting their academic performance. Hence, our government must do something in order to
address these immortal educational issue ones and for all.
For this reason, let us educate the learners the methods of sustainable production of food such
as vegetable production and consumption which are applicable to their homes and important for
household security. This will also teach them the following:
 Improving nutritional status
 Learning where food comes from
 Promoting beautification
 Watershed education
 Producing food
 Stimulating creativity
 Encouraging leadership and service
 Changing family home food habits.
As a matter of fact, this livelihood skill that learners will acquire from the school can also be
applied and replicated in their respective households. Thus, by making foods more accessible to all

schools that will certainly improve the health and nutritional status of the learners through
sustainable school feeding program, our government can better ensure their success.
II. Objectives

 To improve and increase vegetable production and consumption by teaching students the
different methods of sustainable production of food
 To establish school gardens to serve as main source of food to sustain supplementary feeding.
 To encourage every community to cooperate and shares reproduction of green leafy vegetables
in their backyard garden.

III. Description

PROJECT TANIM: (Tandem Activity on Nourishing School Garden Through Intensive Making
and Monitoring)

This project is anchored in Gulayan sa Paaralan Program aiming to establish a school vegetable
garden that will improve and increase vegetable production and consumption and serve as the food
basket to sustain supplementary feeding. Realization of values like good health and nutrition, industry,
love of labor and caring for others are expected to be learned by the learners through this project.
