Series Versus Movies

As the economic growing, people can pursue more entertainments for relaxing.
Film and television series, for example, are two of the most developed amusement
industry nowadays. Both of them satisfy people from hearing and vision. Although
they are classified in the same industry, in the size of screen they played on, how long
they finished a story or the cost they make one, all the ways they are presented to
people are totally different.
Frist of all, the most obvious difference between TV series and movies is where
we watch them. Normal people have much smaller televisions in their house than
huge screens in theaters. That means, people would watch a series more than a film
usually. The amount of each work would be influenced, too. In addition, audiences
could be more concentrate on everything visually and aurally on a larger screen in the
dark as well as quiet theater. At home, on the other hand, people may watch a drama
and do housework at the same time so they could not always put their eyes but only
listen to characters’ conversations on the television. As a result, most movies focus on
the actors or actresses’ movement while series do on their dialogue.
Second difference is the time length. A movie, usually, is about two hours long.
That is the reason why movies familiarly have only one story line. It must be
condensed into the short time with the most splendid plot and absorbed in telling it
completely. As long as it gets off track, the whole movie will be a mess. However, a
series can reach to at least twelve hours long. So the story can be extended to various
ways like characters’ family, life and so on to enrich their image. Furthermore, if a
series was filled with the same plot in such long time, the drama would be
monotonous very much. Undoubtedly, how to handle the time length and the story
line will be the most fundamental.
Finally, the cost. Honestly speaking, money can affect everything. Including the
background and special effects. Indoor scenes are frequently used in the series.
Simple, low-cost, and can be reuse for times. Moreover, they are more suitable for
smaller screen. By contrast, movies’ views are found outdoor more often. The larger
screen can theatricalize where the characters are, then tell the story trough the picture.
Special effects, equally, are one of the costly part in making a series or a film.
Generally, movies are more suitable using special effects more than series since the
same issue, the cost and the size of screen. Hence, many genres are inadaptable for
drama because it can barely bear in less money.
To sum up, differ from series with lower cost are played on narrow television
screen that are focused on narrating characters’ lives completely, movies in wider
picture can detail each actors’ every emotions and move in fewer time and with more
special effects. Nevertheless, they are both creators’ painstaking effort to express their
feelings and talent. Learn to respect and appreciate every work should be the key.
